Beadlocks?

i noticed some for sale i wondered if anyone use them and if they like them or not as i like the idea of a locked wheel rather than gluing. Also that locking bead as rigidity to a wheel which i think is a great thing!

RE: Beadlocks?

They're used for rock crawling, for the same reasons as glueing except these you can switch tires on the rim fast and easy

RE: Beadlocks?

you wouldnt reccomend them for track racing?[&:]

RE: Beadlocks?

they would weigh more causeing less speed. id rather just have a bunch of glued tires. beadlocks are expencive.

RE: Beadlocks?

still alot cheaper than my quad rims (200+). I dont think with the Novarossi in there that power will be much at a loss...........i like the idea and i think i am going to buy a set of 4 today can i do a review on them?:D

RE: Beadlocks?

ya well quad rims are aluminum and like 5 times as big.

I have beadlocks on my Savage. As far as wheels for it go, they aren't all that heavy; but smaller ones for 1/10 scale would be heavier than a conventional without a doubt. You have to cut off an allen wrench to use cause the hardware is long and the threads are fine. It would take forever to do it by hand with a wrench. I would say that they hold tighter than glue. I don't race but for this application I really like them.

I have a set for my Gt and they suck. I hate those rims. The bolts strip out and then you have to find extra long bolts and nut them on the back. Then the tires pop out at high speeds and cause the truck to flip. I threw em in the corner and thats where they lay. Worst thing I ever bought.

SUVs are SORRY URBAN VEHICLES. Its the city boys 4x4. Totally lame especially when porshe makes one now.

this tire explosion deal was like 6 or 7 years ago and its not because of the explorer its because of the firestone tires. ford suv's are the best and they have proven it with the #1 selling suv, the explorer[sm=thumbup.gif]

well the way i see it, it was partially ford and partially the owners or the cars falt. ok first, those idiots that fliped them was cause they didnt keep enough pressure in the tires. then when they did blow out it fliped over? it sounds like thats cause its top heavy. ive riden and driven quite a few explorers and let me tell you, it would be about my last choice for an suv. but thats in the past, and it was fixed, my mom had one at the time and they replaced the firestones with michilins for free.

Can we get back on topic? My mom had an explorer with firestones, but nothing happened it was new in 96 when we bought it. Is this when the recall was? anyway back on topic of beadlocks! i think they would look cool, but strictly for looks and maybe bashing.

Where can you buy these from? Tower???

Pro line makes a set. SUVs are lame gas hogs and all have soft suspention for "consumers", REAL actual 4xs have stiffer suspension the higher you go. Also on the same note IFS sucks too. If it was so great then why wouldnt any REAL 4x4s use them (not talking pre-runner crap). All SUVs are top heavy cause of the soft suspension and the raised center of gravity so "Urban" off-roaders (sarcasim) can feel like big pimps in their big @$$ highway ho@r$

have you ever seen a 4 runner? i know of guys that drive them like hundreds of miles to dunes and stuff like that then change the wheels and go off roading. i bet you dont drive your trucks to the dunes without another car to pull it.

PornstaR16L 03-30-2004 09:27 PM

RE: Beadlocks?

Duhhhh 4-runner??????? Dude I have been building hybrid off-road trucks for years. I have a 76 chev short box frame thats boxed out, cadilac 500, turbo 400 trany, NP205 transfer, dana 60 front and rear, ARB air lockers front and rear, 48 in Apple bite tractor tires, Hydrolic steering, custom built rear 4 link suspension, costom built front 3 link suspension, ect. ect. ect. Yotas are alright trucks but the motors lag on TQ and thats what you need in a truck. The last "real" toyota 4x4 was the Landcruiser FJ40, atleast it had gearing to make up the TQ out of the inline 4.
