Throwin bones
Any one throw dog bones? Today I threw 1 and bent the other. How do you bend a dog bone?
|
RE: Throwin bones
just the torque. Invest in CVD's and be done with it and have better power transfer!;)
|
RE: Throwin bones
hhhhhhmmmmmmmm.............I have an ST-15 and they dont sell CVDs for it.
|
RE: Throwin bones
really i thought they did. Maybe try sending them to a machine shop and they can sleeve them and true em and that could be good enough for ya...........also put new springs in cause after time they lose there punch:)

RE: Throwin bones
I might just buy some spares. But how do they bend? Couldnt be torque.
|
RE: Throwin bones
I'm with ya brother! CVD's can go also one of mine did today:(.
|
RE: Throwin bones
well with reg maintence they shouldnt but if it can break on these trucks they will!:)
|
RE: Throwin bones
it bent within 10min
|
RE: Throwin bones
not MIP shiny CVDs, those things are so thick.
|
RE: Throwin bones
I'm going to see what the hobby shop has today.
|
RE: Throwin bones
they bend from torque. you may want to check the outdrives on the trany and axle to see if the dog bones have tweaked slots into the outdrives. this will cause the bones to brake and twist easyer. CVDs is the only way to go. I broke about 70+ until i got the cvds and have never looked back. You could also try losening up the diff. (if its locked out) or your slipper to keep them from getting tweaked.
|
RE: Throwin bones
YOU broke 70+ with what?
|
RE: Throwin bones
well it didnt help that I was running modded .15s with locked out slippers and locked out diffs. Also this causes the notches in the outdrives and when the wheel spins it hooks the axle in the slots and lifts the suspension up and down as it spins causing brakage.
Now I run a .18 with cvds and no problems...... acasonialy I have to replace the trany outdrives but when it gets bad at first i flip it over and get longer life. |
RE: Throwin bones
70+? for some reason i find that hard to believe.
|
RE: Throwin bones
Ill send you the outdrives and you run them. I was using my tig for a while to weld them back together. Then I said screw it and bought the cvds.
|
RE: Throwin bones
oh so you mean you broke the weld 70 times? that is understandable.
|
RE: Throwin bones
some were welded near the end but there was about 2.5 yrs of breakin em as fast as I could put them in. And they would break where the ball meets the shaft.
