Yes you can take the pull start offf and start it with a drill.......... but its the most horrinble way ever to start your engine. ALso dirt will get up in there and your screwed

RE: pull start ?

I took both my pull starts off and have been using a yank eliminator for 2 month's now and have had no problems with the YE or getting dirt in something and screwing it up.

dirt will get in where, the engine? thats not possible unless its getting in your intake or your manually putting it inside of you engine.
^^_FaWaZ_^^ - i think the pump your refering to must be a primer and if so that is not to start the engine, it simply gets the fuel to the engine without dry starting it.

RE: pull start ?

I bought a YE and never used it becasue of a warning in the instructions. I don't remeber the exact wording, but basically, if you don't have the drill and YE level with the engine, you could ruin your engine. I just keep pull starting my engine....

crazyswede 04-10-2004 03:51 PM

RE: pull start ?

I think you must have misunderstood the direction's. They say that if you don't hold it on the engine straight you could ruin the YE's one way bearing. The only thing you could possibly hurt would be the starter shaft not the whole engine.

RE: pull start ?

You right, I just re-read the instructions "The Yank Eliminator cannot be used at an angle to the engine...it will bind the precision bearing and casue permanent dagame..." The permanent damage thing must have scared me[X(]
