Differential Problem...
Well, I was driving my RC10gt around today and all of the sudden, it sounded a little different, the started to pull to the left hard under hard acceleration. So I figured it was dif. related. I took it apart, and the 2 rings were a little groved from the bearings, so I flipped them over with the smooth side to the bearings. Put it back together, and the same thing still....Any ideas? What do I need to do?
When its all together, and I turn one wheel, the other doesnt spin at all...? |
RE: Differential Problem...
If the teeth are rounded out at all you would probably want get new ones, just because you mess up your diff gears there is no real good way to fix them.

RE: Differential Problem...
on my bros st when you start the car up only 1 wheel spins and when the engine is of and you spin one wheel and the other one doesnt spin either. so i gues thats normal. like on my rusty i have a different type of diff then his. so i would just rplace the gears. they cost like 5 bucks. i stripped mine before so i replaced them and they still work fine

RE: Differential Problem...
Just rebuild it get a new diff. gear the best diff. balls you can afford, while your at it the idler gear which is nylon should be replaced check to make sure that the top shaft is in good shape also , if your using bushings change them out to bearings cost a little but well worth the money. The case bearing that the top shaft goes threw has a tendecy to wear and cause the top shaft to have play in it that travels to the idler gear and so forth. I could go on and on about these trannys but I'll stop here, RED

RE: Differential Problem...
hold on, before going out and spending alot of money, open it up and make sure gears are touching, spin one axle and hold spure and other axle if they lock then its fine and it means one tire probably got more tracktion. if they dont lock it has to be a gear problom there is no other option.

RE: Differential Problem...
Okay let me say this when the time comes to rebuild do it right, bearing , best diff. balls, diff. gear, anyway you kinda get the pic., it really well make a difference. RED
