throttle return spring
 

Hi,
I have an issue with forgetting to turn on the electroincs in my car.[:@] Then I startit up and it shoots away.:( I looked at a failsafe but they dont work with no power.[&o] So now Im looking at a throttle return spring.:D Does anyone have one? Does it work? Does it effect anything like throttle or the brakes?

I have one on both my engines, they work excellent in my opinion. As long as you check their condition before every run they will do their job. I have not noticed any adverse affects on the throttle or brakes using them.

It working when there's no power is the whole Idea
you can buy them for the AE car at the hobby shop or just fashion your own
if you can't find a ball point pen spring strong enough, check the hardware store

SO4M tip of the day;)
Sometimes it's a lot easier to find a spot for the return spring on the servo control arm than the carburetor's arm. especially with slide carbs

Does anyone use a traxxas one? I saw 3 but one is for the revo. Do they work good? Which one should I get?

I use them on both of my XXX NT's for the simple fact that they are lighter, and cheaper than the failsafe units and as mentioned above they dont need any power to work! The KISS theory is always best. KISS = Keep It Simple Stupid! Also Ive never had a problem with them in the past! I change the springs every race season to make sure they dont fail.

I havent tried the traxxas one, but even on my rusty, the associated one works perfect...

Spring alone is not gonna stop a runner, failsafe is what well monitor voltage no a spring, RED

I dont know what spring you're using then... my spring has put my car to brakes because of dead batteries many of times, I never run a failsafe, and I probably never will. Atleast for my car a trs is more than it needs.
If my car has an engine in it, it is gonna have a spring... one day I was taking my car apart for cleaning, and I accidently streched my trs[&:]... that week I had 4 runaways... I decided not to run my car until I got another return spring. I got another and have not had a runaway since...It was probably mainly bad luck, but I'm am not going to take the chance with my new motor...my old one was totaled before my 4th gallon of fuel, the piston could fit all the way through the sleeve... because somtimes the runnaways were so bad I lost site of the car as I was running after it, then find it upside down with the engine stoped...

If you have no voltage then a failsafe wont work! NO POWER = NO WAY TO RETURN SERVO TO BRAKE OR NEUTRAL!!!! A failsafe has to have some sort of power to make the servo return to a preset position and this is where the spring comes into play! The biggest micsonception about failsafes is that they will work without power, this is simply NOT TRUE! If you have no voltage/no power then the failsafe can't give the command to the servo to return to the preset position. If the servo has no power to hold it's position the return spring does its job and makes the servo go to full brake or neutral depending on how you have it set up. An easy way to test this is to try to move your servos without the receiver power turned on, they will easily move in either direction, Now turn the power to the receiver and transmitter on and try to move them, as long as they have signal the servos will hold. Failsafes are designed to make the servo's go to a preset position if the signal is interupted or lost so in essence the failsafe is good only as long as you have power and a good signal to the servos. I hope this clears this up.

A failsafe is good for loss of radio reception...
I too only use a TRS, i want to get a failsafe though.

Whats wrong with venom?? there ok, I run with a venom....little big but its fine. same weight as the ofna one too(i think)

Ive used the same 2 venom now for about a year and a half with no problems , knock on wood, damn that hurt,, RED
