k.. thanks.. does anyone know where i can get a good truck ? i dont have a big budget.. just $200 is all i can afford right now, i want one thats ready to go but the smartech was the only ones i found that was cheap enough to buy with $200

I'd wait and save another 50 or 100 bucks and get the RC10GT Plus RTR.

That's a kick ***** truck for the money out of the box...

Fuel glow plugs battery for the grip and your good to go...

Go check out some of the swap / buy forums at hobbytalk.com you might find something there ready to go in your price range...Some of those guys are looking to get something new so they will give you a whole bunch of extra's (parts tires etc) with the car. Really good deals.

Go to hobbytalk, Staticsag post 8-19-04 under Off Road Swap has a FS: RC10GT Factory Team.

Lists everything for 215 and a price drop. So I think he would even go under your price range since he's had it up there a while.

The RTR PLUS is supposed to be Rockin' out of the box...

RC universe has AD's for Factory Team and RTR as well...check around...

It's not crap like Red says. That is an uneducated statement. Besides, asking whether or not a vehicle is any good is no use in this forum. All you will get in reply is people saying you should get what they have. Just look at all the "what truck is the best" posts. It is ridiculous. The truth is you can get a very good deal on a Smartech vehicle because you get a lot for the money and spare parts are cheap. The bad part is, however, Smartech says they are "[link=http://www.smartechracing.co.uk/]closing [their] doors[/link]" (going out of business). They will supply spare parts for as long as possible, but after that you're on your own. As said, spare parts are cheap, but unfortunately not necessarily readily available. Chances are you won't find what you are looking for at your local hobby store. So, Smartech vehicles are not crap, but in the long run you would be better off chosing a much more popular vehicle. If you are looking for a stadium truck, the ST-15 is a great deal for the money, spare parts are inexpensive, and it has decent options. For a few bucks more you will get more for you money with an Evader and their options are a little bit better. The RC10GT costs more, but is a great truck with many options. The Losi trucks are better for racing than bashing and is on the upper end of the ST pricing scale. Regardless of what you choose you will continuously spend money on it. That is, if you want to keep running it. Because, you will break the thing from time to time and you must have support equipment, fuel, glow plugs, tools, etc.

That truck has been discontinued. Spare parts will be harder to come by as time goes on.

will a failsafe work on this truck ? whats the best failsafe to use that dont cost a load of money.. im lookin at a atm electronic failsafe. they have them in the hobby book for $19.99.. i just need to know if it will work on the hpi.

Make sure what you want your hobby shop carries plenty of parts for.

and as far as a fail safe Im not a fan of those:
-if you loose all power (battery or switch problem) they are useless
-you should be able to tell when your batteries are dying

But I have heard good to so that just my opinion

If amps drop below 4.7 the Failsafe well kick in and brakes well lock , good thing but if your hauling and the battery pack falls out and you have no power the failsafe is useless bad thing, RED

i bought a Traxxas Nitro Rustler for $145. r they good ? i hope so.. plus, he said it needs the starter for it so can someone point out where i can get one ? thanks

Well there are a few choices of starters you can get...

I find the pullstart alot easier, because you dont have to charge batteries before running your car...

This would be a good choice if you are planning on racing, but if just bashing, like crash said in another post, you wont want to carry it around with you all the time... and it tends to be alittle out of somes price range...


It is all personal prefrence on which starter to use, but many find the pullstart a good choice

i have my pull start for my rustler. what else do i need for the pull start to make it work on the engine if there is anything. on the tower website they was talking about a one way bearing or something like that. do i need one of those for the pull start ?
