Does More Nitro = Less engine life??

Does a correctly tuned engine running more nitro % last as long as running with a lower amount of nitro? Oil percent is the same in both fuels. Is 30% to much for just messing around? I am not nessessarly woried about fuel costs. Engine is the factory one in the hpi MT2

thanks guys

Well I'm just a basher, I always run 30%, I don't believe running with 30% nitro content has any effect on engine life. especially if it is the same oil content of a fuel with lesser nitro. The amount of oil would be the thing that effects the engines life the most, the nitro content would mainly just change the temps of the engine. So if your truck is running to hot for that fuel, you might want to think about switching over to a different one.

yes it has an effect on engine life, if u increase the % fuel the then oil content goes down meaning less lubricants r going throught the engine when you are running it so it has more wear on the engine but is opposite if u run 10% that has more oil so the run life will be longer than running 30%

WRONG! ^ Usally the oil content is the same across the entire fule range etc: 10%, 20%. However the higher nitro content the more stress the engine has on it.

higher nitro also means you have more opportunity for left over nitro in the engine after a run, which will cause rust. so yes, mainly because of what Fantom_15_GT said, engine life is shorter. (oil content and nitro content are independent, as nitro content goes up the methanol content goes down.)

if theres the same oil content between the 30% an lower %, that means that 30% has more nitro, so more nitro goes into the engie then oil then with lower %, more oil more engine life, less oil less engine life bcecause less it would give extreme wear on the piston and sleeve

...so I see basic algebra is not a strong area for you either...

Ok.. for simplicity let's pretend that glow fuel only has 3 ingredients: nitro, oil and methanol. Oil content must remain basically constant in all the fuels, otherwise any fuel with a reduced oil percent would ruin the engine. More nitro = less methanol.

I'm bored, so here's the algebra:
We'll do.. nitro % + oil % + methanol % = 100%

So for a fuel that's 10% oil.. 15% nitro would mean:
15+10+x=100
25+x=100
x=100-25
x=75 (% methanol)

10% oil, 30% nitro:

30+10+x=100
40+x=100
x=100-40
x=60 (% methanol)

You get the idea, I hope.

to make it simpler the more nitro the less engine life

Hay thanks for the repies. I am getting a hpi mt2 and was just kind of wondering if 20-25 % nitro would be alright. I dont really plan to race it.

20% will be fine.

Heck, I run 15% and I'm happy.
