How many of you actually do this.....?
1 Attachment(s)
I was watching a few videos on this forum recently of people "bashing" their trucks. Some six-eight foot high ramps set up in a parking lot in such a way that their truck was launching straight up in the air about ten feet and basically falling onto the tar below. Now my question is, when guys say they are bashing and having parts break and blaming it on cheap a arms, or the like, are they doing this type of blatant abuse? Who the hell spends hundreds of dollars on a truck, any kind of truck, and goes and demolishes it? I mean, according to these forums, my trucks should last for the rest of my natural life, as I just drive them around the yard. Well, I've taken enough of your time. Any thoughts??? RE: How many of you actually do this.....?
I bash my savage hard.........it breaks and i fix it.
There is nothing better than hiting a ramp (race track or BMX) at full speed and see these monsters fly..........it just takes practice to land on all fours :D The difference with hitting a ramp and going straight up is just mad.......IMO.........and will result in parts breaking To some these are just toys.......to others its a passion.......(very expensive one) Just have fun.........thats what hobbies are about |
RE: How many of you actually do this.....?
I have had a backflip addiction lately... lol.:D
No broken parts though, landing well is key.;) |
RE: How many of you actually do this.....?
Right now I'm having a bashing withdrawl until my o.s. comes in. I am forced to run my electric, and it barley makes it all the way up our jump. Then Erik jumps his GT off it and catches enough air to clear my house.
Maybe we'll get some video footage of some bashing and post it up. |
RE: How many of you actually do this.....?
Lets see, instead of doing major jobs this guy yesterday decided he wanted to go full speed between two metal poles to show off. [X(] He slammed head on into the pole, breaking parts and mounts and finally twisting his frame so bad he cant put the body back on. Now that guy is a dumb ass. :D You all seen that video where the kid is driving then hops a hill and slams into the brick wall? Remember that sound? Well this one was the same but had a nice metal ring to it. :)
Personally, I do small jumps but nothing like some of those guys do. |
RE: How many of you actually do this.....?
I tend to think many people do think there r/c's should be industructable. I person posted on here a little while back about a GT and a XXX-NT where they went head on into each other and was ranting and raving that the XXX-NT was fragile because it broke both front arms and the GT didn't break anything. That is such a load of bull! Why would people do that? It is crazy and it ticks me off! If you land off of a six foot jump sideways how can you not expect it to break? Just think about the huge amount of force that is putting on the parts! It's amazing how durable nearly every single vehicle is.
The fact is that every vehicle has a weakest link. That is the part that will break most often and it usually saves one or more other parts from breaking as well. It's the same with the airplane guys too. Many complain about some props that break too easily when they hit the ground. I say good! They should break easily. If its not the prop its the firewall, or front bearing, or crankshaft; all of which much more expensive and difficult to fix. The point is, just get a clue. If you want to ABUSE your toys, don't complain when they break. |

RE: How many of you actually do this.....?
To each his own. I bash and enjoy fixing my trucks when they break.
It is relaxing to work on things. So you just have to decide how much time you want to spend replacing parts before you get to crazy. |
RE: How many of you actually do this.....?
jbuck- Then I applaud you, and anyone else who follows you. I too spend a bit of time once in a while getting pretty crazy with my truck. But I only go so far as to not jeopardize my wallet. I have broken parts bashing. That is: going off jumps at WOT getting about 8 feet of air. But I don't do that unless I know, for the most part, my truck is coming back in one piece because I don't get a kick out of breaking a $14 pair of suspension arms.
The only beef I have is when people don't consider that their bashing is going to break parts so they complain when something does break. |

RE: How many of you actually do this.....?
I think bashing hard and fixing parts is one of, if not the best part of this hobby. One reason I'm sick of electric is because I can't bash the thing hard enough to break it...

most of the guys that bash are immature punks under the age of 18 . They piss and whine to mommy & daddy to buy them their trucks so they don't know what it is to work and pay for the truck or the parts the bust up. if they were older and had familys and bills to pay they might actualy think before they do some of the stupid crap they do . Check out some of the threds on here about the age of most of the guys on here and tell me i'm wrong:eek: |

RE: How many of you actually do this.....?
Yeah well there are responsible 18 year olds who pay for their own stuff... Don't see me *****ing when I break something, yet I still have to go to work to replace it. I don't think it's fair that you single out everyone under 18 just because some people's parents buy their stuff for them and some people are immature. [&:]

RE: How many of you actually do this.....?
I always tell people I'm 18 with several years of experience.
I don't take my toys out to break them, but I do take them out to have fun and do things I wouldn't do in a real vehicle. If I break something in the process, well that is my problem. Replacing broken parts is part of the TCO. I've got some wheels that flex too much for my liking, but the engineer in me says some flex is good and the adult in me says I'd rather ruin the wheel then blow out a diff. Deep down, I know some parts are designed to break because they are cheap and easy to replace. Now, if the rims round off the first time I hit the gas and I don't have something crazy like .70 in a 1/10 scale car, somebody is going to get a phone call. |
RE: How many of you actually do this.....?
Some of us like doing crazy things. I havent broken any real parts these days though. I guess Ive became a better driver then What i was a year ago...[&:]

RE: How many of you actually do this.....?
Gubbs3 has brought the ideal image of common sense into these forums. It was only a matter of time, look how many agree with him. Chalk me down onto that list!

RE: How many of you actually do this.....?
rccars411- Thank you very much. I appreciate the good feedback.
I am not usually one to go off on people but when I see all the SSDD sort of nonsense, it just rubs me the wrong way. I've said it before and I'll say it again, "I hate stupid people." What really bugs me even more is people who use their hidden voice to send out their bad message. I've dealt with it on the job (high school coach) where parents were badmouthing my other coach and have had to deal with it in a "politically correct" manner. Since this is a family website I will still remain PC and spare anyone, and myself, any misfortune and keep the rest of my thoughts to myself. I also encourage people to think about what they are posting before they press "OK." Give your post a good once over and correct and obvious mistakes and just make sure it doesn't sound like you're talking out of your ear. One last thing I want to say to everyone. This of course coming from my "hidden voice" of online chat... "don't be dumb." |
RE: How many of you actually do this.....?
Well, I think if someone goes out and spends money they earned on something, then they have every right to treat it any way they please. I guess I just wanted to get an idea what people thought on this subject. All you bashers out there....bash on!! I'm gonna go drive my truck in circles all day! j/k;)

RE: How many of you actually do this.....?
Bashing is not just for 18 year olds with no respect, I am 35 and have been in the hobby for 17 years and I love to give my cars and trucks a good thrashing. I also enjoy fixing them and beefing them up to withstand more punishment. I baby a couple rigs for racing but when they get old I put em on E-bay or beat them to death and get some cool pics and videos.
