nitro is tickin' me off

Hey wazzup, i have a nitro evader st and the engine is realy making me mad. it never wants to run right, it is har as crap to start, and when you do get it to start and run every time you back off the throttle is stalls. I put a new glow plug in it and tuned it to what i think is pretty good and i havent fiqued out what the problem is. ANY TIPS?

Sounds like you are running the engine really rich and it might be flooded.

i dont think that is it because it is tuned perfect

I had two Evaders. One the motor ran great the other was a nightmare. I never could figure it out so I just bought an OS and the problem was solved. I wish I could give you better advice but it seems like some of those DTX .18's are just real hard to get tuned right and keep that way. Have you tried turning the idle up? Both motors I had were a pain to get started.

You might not have the idle screw set properly. Many times people have a good idle, but its set with the linkage holding the throttle open. The problem then, will be when you apply the brakes, or let off real fast, your carb closes, and cuts out. Pull the air filter off, and take a look at the carb. Just make sure that your idle gap isnt closing off throttle, or when brakes are applied.

Take the air filter out and take a look in the carb to make sure there's a big enough gap for air in your idle position. You might not be allowing enough air through the intake.

If that's the case - try adjusting the throttle trim on your transmitter......or adjusting the throttle linkage. Mine will "re-adjust" itself once in a while on its own.

I would say #1 If the car is tuned perfect you would not be asking why it is not running correctly :) #2 Best thing to do in times like this is to put the engine back to factory settings and the remote back center on sterring and throttle. Then once it is running really rich, tune it from there.

To me it sounds like your low end is way to lean. If it stalls when you let it idle. If it stalls while you let off gas top end may be too lean. After you put it to factory setting see if you can idle with out stalling. If you can then your low end is fine. Then I would make sure you do not lean out the top end too much.

Make sure you watch those setting. Leaning out an engine too much is very dangerous. Too Lean means not enough Nitro into the engine, not enough Nitro means not enough oil. Not enough oil means LOCK up. Then you will be buying a new engine.

take its temp....dont use that to tune it but to get it in the general area

also i had the cutting out problem mine just died and i leaned out the lsn a little and it stopped doing that

HSN is easiest thing to tune but getting it to idle is pretty hard.....if you mess up and cant get the tune back go back to factory settings and try over again you will eventually get it right and only make small adjustments then run it and let the adjustments have time to kick in and only tune an engine when its at normal operating temp NEVER tune a cold engine

tuning a cold engine is like starting a race without fuel it wont get you anywhere

here is a tuning "tutorial" for you to look at its pretty good

good luck!
