Joe, that's nice.
I'm still waiting for a Jato to take a national title. that might prove something. at a local level, it's all the driver.

Yea, not only that, its expected for the jato to win some races. And who knows? maybe it will win one of the big races! (which I would really like to see because now all you see are xxx-nt's and GT's either 1st or second, for a jato to win 1st in a big event it needs its 15 minutes of fame!).

:)

RE: jato A WINNER

Yeah, I WOULD like to see something other than an XXXNT or a GT in the winner's circle at a BIG race for once.
I honestly still dont think that'll happen, because traxxas doesn't give a flyin fart about racing. just as long as they sell their RTR's to n00bs, they're happy.

And just for the record, i dont CARE WHAT gets into the winner's circle, just as long as it's not what i'm so used to seeing it makes me sleepy:O

The jato was a winner at a regional north west ROAR race for 1/10 trucks, the RD Racing Team was kicking ass.

Nice to hear about the win, but they are right it has a lot to do with the driver, but it's nice to see the Jato kick some ass in the face of the people who doubt.

RE: jato A WINNER

Just to set the record straight:
it's not the jato's platform i dislike.

it's the fact that it's just another 2.5 powered RTR just like every other n00bmobile Traxxas has. just like the Revo. if either were available as a kit, i'd own it.

Unbreakable207 07-29-2005 10:49 PM

RE: jato A WINNER

I feel you, I'm going to purchase a revo but heck I don't need the engine and all that ****, I just want a kit but traxxas of course hasn't done it. It sucks but at least I get an extra 2.5, which is a decent engine, and probably the best RTR engine available.

ThunderbirdJunkie 07-29-2005 10:59 PM

RE: jato A WINNER

ehhh, i personally have a VERY strong, let's call it a DISLIKE, for the 2.5.
the owner of my LHS offered me $120 off for a Revo with no engine/electronics, and that just wasn't enough for me. otherwise i'd be rollin one right now.

Hi

Every one needs to start emailing Traxxas and demand that they start making there vehicles in kit form again. If I'm not mistaken Traxxas has discontinued all of there RC kits. If they start making ther vehicles in kit form again I might just spend the money on a Revo, but until then I will never buy another Traxxas.

I have the 2.5, and I see nothing wrong with it. Has great power, looks cool, and is great for offroading/onroad use. Also, as long as you dont mess with the needles that traxxas gives you out of the box, and use only top fuel you shouldnt have any problems.

ThunderbirdJunkie 07-30-2005 12:55 PM

RE: jato A WINNER

ICT...I refuse to use their fuel, and I just hate the engine in general:P yes, it makes good power, I won't disagree with that, but working at a hobby shop will make you detest the 2.5, trust me:)

Well, if you use the traxxas fuel with the 2.5 you shouldnt have any problem. If you use their fuel in anything else then yes, you WILL have problems...everyone knows that if they know traxxas.

Now, I know how hobby shop ppl act, my hobby shop is mostly traxxas/ofna stuff. Doesnt mean they have to always keep a closed mind on things they dont like. They hate losi/some associated stuff, but when I had a problem with my rc10gt they were always happy to help free of charge.

Sorry you feel that way about some engine even though you pretty much told me you havent tried it with the right fuel. [:-]

ThunderbirdJunkie 07-30-2005 01:23 PM

RE: jato A WINNER

Sorry, but the way I see it is, if I can only run ONE fuel in an engine for it to run right, I've got better things to do ;)

I never had a problem wtih fixing 2.5 powered cars at my LHS...it just got really old, lol.

...and then there was the guy that ran his truck minus air filter, and wondered why it didnt run without cutting off...hmm

RE: jato A WINNER

I know Traxxas believe me. And Traxxas fuel does about as good in their engines, as any other. Put some Trinity or O'Donnell in it, and it makes alot of difference. I was messing with a Jato a few weeks ago. It screems basher on every one of it's angles. Everything from the monster truck type handling, to the high COG. It still uses an upper/lower deck chassis design, which has been played out for about a decade now. Thus resulting in the high COG. If you drop the truck to get the COG lower, and take away the slushy monster truck feel, the suspension now has no more travel than the average RC10, 3x-NT, or whatever. It's actually a good vehicle. The gear type differential sucks for racing, but is reliable for hours of BASHING. The gear type diff can't be tuned like a ball diff, but makes for much less maintenance. The truck just doesn't appeal to me, cause I'm not into bashing that much. The same thing for the REVO. I'd like to have a REVO to play around with, but I don't like the TRX2.5 either. But my arguement with the JATO is the price! It's outrageous! For a truck that will cost 350 bucks, it should be up to speed more. I know they only have the upper layer of the chassis half as long as it used to be, but everything is cramped, and hard to work on. There are other ways to get alot of suspension travel, other than this design. And they still use that stupid fuel tank box, that has to stripped down to nothing to clean it. Traxxas is simply hagning on to too many played out designs here. They need to get into a flat chassis vehicle, with more up to date stuff. The suspension itself is very innovative, but there's alot of played out stuff too.

hey, gear diffs have been successfully used in 1/8 buggy racing for HOW many years?

I PERSONALLY would rather have a gear diff...
if there was a Jato kit, I think it'd be the perfect bash on saturday, win on sunday race/play truck.
granted, I don't think it'd go on the track anywhere near as much as my losi truck:)

Why would they want to do that? They have made millions off of their RTR's. Look at the t-maxx, its still the best selling nitro r/c car ever made. Then you've got the REVO and JATO. The only thing I really dont care for in the traxxas rtr's is that damn 1970's looking controller. As long as traxxas is making soo much money, they probably wont change a thing in their line-up. Making billions, the American dream, all any company cares about anymore.

Then why wouldnt you just buy the RTR then sell the engine and radio/servos on ebay?? The engines are getting like $70 and the radios with servos and reciever can get like $20-$30. Then take it apart. Viola, you have a $250 Kit. Hell sell the ezstart, starter, body, and rims and tires. The bodies alone are selling for $25-$35.
