alex those gladiator tyres look pretty cool, have u run them on dirt/sand? if so, do u think they will work well on the beach, (the firm sand, not the soft stuff)?

im running some tmaxx ofna brick pins at the mo, and wanted something kinda similar but in 2.2".

cheers

My Speed Hawgs are alot softer than the DUratrax and Striker II's I use to race dirt oval with. My Speed Hawgs wroked pretty good except coming out of the corner as I think the track had some marbles on it but when it blue grooves I will pull these out and pretty sure they will really hook on the track.

would speed hawgs be good up front? I'm definitely getting the dirt hawgs for the rear, but undecided for the fronts. I need something that'll bite down for turning.

those are for the electric rusty and the pede. they do not fit properly on the nitro rusty. the rears will rub and cut though your ball ends and the fronts don't take the beaings like they should.

When buying wheels for the rusty you have to make sure you get the appopriate ones, the nitro and electric versions use different rims. I found this out the hard way.

so I'm guessing those wouldn't fit the jato... do u have a link for ones that would? I couldn't tell from TH if they were for electric or not. Also, what kind of tire glue is needed? There's thick and thin. [sm=confused.gif]

I don't know much about jato rims, but if they take nitro rusty rims, then any of the other ones the other guys posted should work. if you are ordering from Tower they generally seem to specify right in the product description whether the rims are for the electric or nitro rusty.

any Ca glue will work. the thick stuff is easier to work with and less messy, but it tends to lay in thick and squeeze out when you seat the tires. the thin CA works really well, but tends to wick around the tires and glue almost the whol diameter, which makes removal a bit more difficult.

Personally i always use cheap generic thin CA I get from a local discount store.

Wow, when you read those descriptions it gets really confusing...

these wheels are for the rear of the nitro rustler or stampede, for the front of the electric rustler or stampede, the rear of your father-in-laws 1983 chevette, the front right but not front left of your nephew's go-kart, an the lower center set for the 2nd version of the Mars rover.

why the hell do they need to make this so confusing?[:@]

All I want to do is get some wheels and tires for my Jato... And now's the time to get em since I got a coupon for $20 off from Tower Hobbies.

I wrote the following, before I realized that I have yet to see anything claiming the rusty wheels fit on the JATO. We need to verfiy that before any of this will be relevant. I'll search a bit and see what I can find. Then I'll post back. In the meantime, don't order anything.

I just run the stock traxxas rusty wheels, then I sand blast the crappy stuck on chrome off and dye them with rit fabric dye. The RPm wheels are probably the way to go, just be sure you get one set that says for the front of the nitro rusty and one set that says its for the rear of the nitro rusty.

These ones you linked to [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXEW44&P=7]http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXEW44&P=7[/link] will work for the rear of the nitro rusty.

and these are the matching ones for the front of the nitro rusty [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/WTI0001P?&I=LXEW56&P=V]http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/WTI0001P?&I=LXEW56&P=V[/link]

RE: 2.2 wheels for jato?!

this would lead me to belive that the JATO will take rusty wheels

[link=http://www.pro-lineracing.com/proline/wheels/2685-86/2685-86.html]http://www.pro-lineracing.com/proline/wheels/2685-86/2685-86.html[/link]

But because it mentions changing the hex size I am not 100% sure they have the same hexes on the jato as the rusty. I'll keep looking.

edit:
OK got it. they will work [link=http://www.pixeldown.net/index.php?/archives/203-Traxxas-Jato-Compatible-2.2-Inch-Rims-Wheels.html]http://www.pixeldown.net/index.php?/archives/203-Traxxas-Jato-Compatible-2.2-Inch-Rims-Wheels.html[/link]

RE: 2.2 wheels for jato?!

Yes the nitro rustler rims fit on the jato.

I see a lot of people running rear tires on the front. They don't give you anymore traction. Rear tires have a flatter profile while specific front ribbed tires have a round profile like a motorcycle tire. These trucks have a lot of caster which gives you a lot of camber roll when you turn the wheel so running a flat profile tires will have you running on the sidewall of the tire when you turn the wheel all the way over. Unless your running a 4wd truck you want ribbed tires on the front. Of corse a treaded tire will work great... just make sure it has a round profile to it if you put it on the front.

When you buy wheels and tires, do the foam inserts come with them?
