Quick engine question
This is a real quick two part question:
I have this head laying around: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXDRW2&P=0 I've got this engine I'm putting in a truck: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXGEE4&P=Z now the question part: 1) will that cooling head fit on that engine and work correctly? 2) will I gain anything by putting the aftermarket head on the engine? (power, torque, etc) I'm going to do some of my own research, any help you can give will be greatly appreciated.. thanks!! |

hmmm yeah the engine colling head should fit on there.
my freind has got a bigger colling head for his evader and i got the standed one still, he dosent get that much power out of it but a bit better tems and much lower so that means he can lean his engine out a bit more and the engine wont over heat. so yeah you do get a bit more power |

somtimes if you put a larger than average head on an engine, you run into problems because the engine runs too cool. You don't want the engine to run too cool or the piston won't shrink enough. This will cause a tighter piston/sleeve fit and could wear your engine out faster. It would be especialy tight at the top of the cylinder brcause it is tapered.

I'm not so sure that head will fit. Just because the two engines have the same .18 displacement does not mean that the heads are interchangeable. The cylinder diameters can be quite different between two .18's. I would be really surprised if it did fit. And even if it appears to fit, it still may not be a perfect match, and the motor may never run right, if at all.
My advice would be to stick with the stock head, or buy one specifically made for the engine. Save yourself the headache. (pun intended) |
