Tuning Problem

Well I actually have 2 problems. First is that I started up my car the other day and with the cold weather, the tunning is all off; I could barely get it started. When I finally managed to get it started, it was smoking alot. I tried leaning it out, and it would stall and I wasn't able to get it started until I richened it up again.

As I slowly got it moving, I heard some grinding noises. I had this problem before. I opened up the diffs which was OK, and made sure the mesh between the spur and clutch bell was OK. I have no idea where the grinding is coming from.

Any suggestions?

RE: Tuning Problem

I have an MT2 18SS

I got it working pretty well today...better then usual. I dont know why it didn't want to run the other day, really weird
I leaned it out today and it pulls pretty hard.

It looks like the little nut and the linkage from the carb has come apart...so if i hit the brakes...i have to tap it a few times for it to work.
Would gluing it back together be a good idea?

you might have a oil and fuel in the pipe and stuf so it might take a long time to warm up

tell me did you leave fuel in the fuel tank and leave the fuel pipe in the carby?

Actually now that I think about it...it sat with about half a tank for a week or so. You think that would of been the problem?

no i dont? i leave fuel in my tank all the time and never had that prob or any...

its easy to get the needles crossed and its good to go back to the stock setting then work fron there. the glow plug is the first thing i ck. then the clutch like you did. air filter has to be clean ALL the time. if its none of the above i ck for holes in the lines or a crack in the tank.

I dont know it was really weird. The truck ran great yesterday. Is it possible for these engines to just totally lose tune?

It's a good possibility. It's good practice to run all the fuel out of your truck at the end of the day. The fuel can spoil quickly, and also leave oil residue in your tank, lines and engine.

At the end of the day, empty the tank, then fire up the truck till it runs out of fuel. This should keep things nice and clean.
