Problems :( ?

ellos guys :-)

Yesterday i started one of my Schumacher XTR's up for the 1st time (in a long time!) ...well its not mine no more but my 9yr old son as i passed it onto him for a xmas prezzy :-)

anywayz this is the prob i had:

Aftter i got the engine running, i gave it a little throttle (holding rear wheels off ground) & i noticed they were going backwards slowly!? ...so i let it idle for a miniute or 2 then tried to give it some gas, i didnt put it on WOT, infact i barely touched the throttle ...

At 1st it seemd to move forward slowly & sluggish, this was expected as i knew it would need tuning due to such a long period of standing, anywayz after about 5 more sec... nothing! engine was still running at idle with no probs & if i gave it some gas the engnie would rev...but no movement, even when i held up rear wheels off gorund they did not spin.

So began the normal checks... when i tried to move rear wheels by hand...no probs, checked the brake, no probs, Even opened up the gear box to check belt & thats fine.. then i tried to move the spur/pinion by hand & this is where i *think* the problem is..

When i removed the spur gear i can turn the pinion gear by hand with no resistance at all?

I taken the spur gear off to where i could see the clutch shoes, but tbh i dunno what im looking for..shoes are still in place with no sign of breakage.. could they just be worn out ?

Any help much appreciated.. ty guys :-)

so to sum up so far ive tried:

-turning spur gear by hand with no resistance with truck on & off the ground
-Checked gear box (which is belt driven) & all seems fine & clean
-Compression in engine is fine & engine runs as normal

So im guessing its the clutch shoes or summit similar?

Ive never had this prob before so i got no idea! :(
