RE: rustler and jato

definatly a jato, no questions asked. The jato has so many more features than the rustler, thats like comparing a tmaxx to a revo, whats the point, the revo is just a btter truck. The jato will perform better all around, it can be a racer with some mods, it can bash. The rustler can bash, I'll give it that. Not saying its a bad truck, im sure its a good truck, but out of the two, I pick the jato.

RE: rustler and jato

i would pick the nitro rusty cause i own both and i think the rusty is a better all around stadium truck and the jato is like a strret truck cause it is so low to the ground and has good performance

I would go with the rusty considering what you said you want to use it for. It is a durable truck that can drive through grass and all that stuff. You can also order aluminum parts for it from www.rdracingproducts.com The jato on the other hand has better speed but on the Jato you lose the chance of going through grass adn stuff like that. To me I think they made the Jato a bit too low. Just my opinion!

ST's don't do well on lawns, your going to get stuck alot. But the Jato is miles above and beyond the Rustler. I'd go with the Jato and stay off the lawn. :D

RE: rustler and jato

Are you guys like talking about lawns with 5 ft of grass or something. My jato performs amazing on and off road. I would never have thought that its suppose to be mainly onroad unless someone told me. The low stance of the jato is probably because traxxas had racing in their mind for this little truck as well as bashing. You can raise the stance of the jato easily, I dont know what you guys are talking about not being able to ride on a lawn with a jato. I like the fact the jato has the low cg deal going for it. Makes it much more race worthy. Plus the jato is lighter than the rusty, just take off the ez start and the other excess plastic and stuff, and the jato is very light weight.

bigmike.. believe it or not.. the JATO stock vs stock, is about 2 oz heavier than the Rusty is. [sm=tired.gif]

RE: rustler and jato

get a jato, i've had both and the jato is far better...also there are stacks of alloy parts available for the jato now from GPM racing...i've got all of them fitted and my jato is a beast....next up i need new tires soooo bad! i now have slicks on the back and they were knobbly pro lines lol

I was over at my buddies house and we were in grass, and his Jato kept getting stuck.

RE: rustler and jato

correct me if i am wrong but the jato does around 56mph so if i just put some larger tires on there it could handle the grass right?
and still enough power, i am just worried that i will be dissapointed with the jato's speed and acceleration in the grass, since i have gottne used to a t-maxx having no problem...

what do u guys think?

RE: rustler and jato

how tall of grass are you guys running in?! i dont see how any 1/10 stadium truck would get stuck in normal, well kept grass. i dont know about jato vs. rustler, but i have a rustler and its pretty cool....needs a bit of work though...

Jato its a newer truck. Its fresher.

RE: rustler and jato

You guys must have sucky jatos to get stuck driving on a lawn. St's are meant for off road, they are not street cars. They are built to be a faster version of a mt. I run my jato in snow with sand paw and my jato does wheelies, gets through everything with ease (only a couple inched, but still) and mine runs on grass like it runs on the road, I actually get more wheelies in the grass then on road. I just have a good jato lol.

RE: rustler and jato

which bigger tires for off-roadin would work well on hte jato??

RE: rustler and jato

Ihave a Jato and put some mean knobbies on it and it absolutely SCREAMS through the grass w/ no problems at all. Never gets stuck, runs 45 mph plus on grass, throws roosters about 10 feet, and pulls wheelies like mad. Look at pro line Dirt Paw for rear and Dirt Hawg 1 for front. Part #'s 1043-00 and 1071-00. Go to www.prolineracing.com-products-race and all terrain trucks-tires. I am happy with my set-up.

RE: rustler and jato

even with stock tyres mine burned along on the grass..about 3 inches deep of it with no problems at all..

finally got some better tyres for the mud around my way!! some pro-line trac-a-gators with agitator rims, i took it out today and it ripped the mud up and wheelied everywhere!!

ima jato person but money wise i think u could pick up a new rustler for a good price cause of the jato :D

RE: rustler and jato

We were in taller grass, maybe 4"-6". In his yard, where the grass was shorter, he could run much better, but still not to full speed.

RE: rustler and jato

i would pick the rustler over jato. rustler handles better try jumping a jato some time its a very unpredicable truck we have had three guys at the local track this past summer they raced them 3 or 4 times and now there sitting in a closet handle like crap these guys weren't newbies seasoned drivers and they'll tell ya its a basher not a racer as far as the tall grass goes 1/10 scale doesn't like taller grass sounds like you need a lawn mower lol

bigmike882 02-09-2006 07:52 PM

RE: rustler and jato

The jato is much more capable of being a racer than a rustler would be. I think my jato will be a great racer, my jato handles like a dream, very responsive, I do have 2 hitec servos for throt. and steering. I think it wouls handle a lot better with that new titanium chassis that is 40% stronger and 10% lighter than the stock chassis. Since its stronger, means less flex, meaning better handeling.

RE: rustler and jato

The tall grass we were on was a field, and we arent going to mow it [X(]
