WHICH ENGINE DO I GET?
 

I have a losi xxx-nt and i race on a dirt oval. i need a new motor, but im unsure of what to get. the good thing is. there is no rules so i dont matter which one i get. i wanna spend about 200 or so, and iam concerned with run time. we run 4-5 minute races and i dont wanna run out of gas. also i think torque would be better than hp too since im just on an oval? but i want your guys' suggestions. thanks

are you running at RVR?

I've run dynamite engines in my oval cars, plenty of run time to cover your heat/main races..


from what I found, buying an expensive high horsepower engine, wasn't for me.. I needed to learn to drive first, then build the horsepower (I actually won two races using my Dynamite .12 - good enough for me). A ballistic engine on an oval is great, but somewhere you have to have control of it..

I got a os 18 cvr in my mt2 really easy to tune and a lot of torque probably good for oval getting out of corners.

You want a .12.
Try a STS .12, a SH .12 or maybe a CV-R .12.

The O.S .18CVR or the O.S .12CVR both will do good. The .12 has a little less power but depending on the size of the track you may not be able to use all the power that the .18 has to offer. Remember to go fast you have to put the power to the ground and if your spinning your tires your not going as fast as you could be going.

Don't anybody underestimate the power of a nice .12 They will have plenty of power to get out of turns, but not so much torque that your tires break loose and spin you out. A .12 will also rev higher, giving you a smoother, larger powerband. That is why I recommended the STS .12. I warn you now, racing with a .18 is not easy.

Get a OS .12 tz, mine runs great, super power. Or for a few bucks more, RB V12. Its hard to say what one out runs the other but they will both run with the .18 engines on a oval and still have fuel left over. Ive seen .18 engines run out with time left and end up losen.
