an RC10GT would be a good start. i hear its a great racer and basher. plus lots of hop-ups and it won a few nationals. so, that would be a great beginner truck. pretty durable, too.

The MT 2 is 4-wheel drive and will out handle any 2-wheel drive. All so a 4-wheel drive will go places a 2-wheel drive will get stuck. I have both 2 and 4-wheel drive stadium trucks. My 4-wheel drive handles so much better I rarely drive my 2-wheel drive. I am sure what ever you get you will have fun.

46u has hit the nail on the head...

I've got an RC10, since the introduction of my MT2 to the garage, the RC10 now sits.. the MT2 handles so much better and is just so much more fun and easier to work on...

I'm not saying the RC10 is bad, but if you have a choice, you'd probably like the way 4WD handles over the 2WD...

I'm not so sure on the evo, but it's made by HPI, that's a selling point for me.. all of there stuff is just so easy to fix/work on..

my thoughts are there aren't really any "bad" ready to run trucks.. read through here.. everyone seems to get hung up on a brand and that's it for them (I'm the same way).. but I think anything that you choose as a beginner will be good for you.. do a bit of research, ask some questions and you'll do alright..
