Traxxas Rules
Ok so far my Traxxas engine has been working awsome in my nitro rustler. I have the 2.5r in it and i have a gallon through it. After I had break in done I tuned it and ever since then it has held it's tune perfect. Every time within the fith pull it is running. It can do wheelies on command and it has awsome top end. What I dont get is why everyone bashes traxxas products. So Far traxxas has been awsome and I will be buying another one in the future.

RE: Traxxas Rules
LOL, what a joke. Ive 2 motors, both the 1.5s . One has 4 gallons, one has 5 1/4 gallons. The one with 4 gallons through it was rebuilt when it was in its 4th. It was my fault it blew so soon, I didnt run after run in it. Any motor, TRAXXAS or not can make it well over 5 gallons if taken proper care of. I know for a fact the TRX motors will last over 5.
I have the one with 5.25 gallons in a 6 year old Tmaxx that has never broken a single part except the oneway in the ez start. |
RE: Traxxas Rules
I've been working at the hobby shop for 4 months now and I haven't found anyone that has had a Traxxas engine last past 5 gallons. Just doesn't happen... My guess is that giant carb is letting in so much air/fuel mixture that it just wears out the sleeve quicker. That would explain why they produce so much power when new, and why they suck up fuel quicker than most.

RE: Traxxas Rules
Doesnt happen huh? Like hell it doesnt! Ill let you know when my one hits the 5 gallon mark, and the other finished its 6th. IT DOES HAPPEN. I have the T-MAXX to prove it, 5 gallons and over 1 quart, runs like a champ.
haha, anyone who can make a trx engine last that long is my hero and deserves a trophy;)
Don't beleave a word they dont last[>:] I'm still running aTRX2.5 and it's lasted over 5 years and I just now put a new piston in it and that was no fault of the motor I just leaned it out to much for a club radar run and toasted the piston. I can't even begin to guess how many gallons of fuel has gone through it's guts. So if you want to beleave those that say the TRX is crap they are full of then selfs and a load of BS too. Traxxas Rocks

RE: Traxxas Rules
My thing with traxxas is even though they have decent products for *mostly* bashing, they put speed figures and all sorts of other crap to try and sell the vehicles like toys, or it makes the traxxas owner think that there product is far better in competion just because it can do 60 plus.

RE: Traxxas Rules
Im with you for the most part. Its a good sales pitch, just like any advertising. It is possible to achieve the advertised ratings(under ideal settings). The perfect tune, and clutchbell change can get a 2.5 Rustler to run the 50+ mph rating. Ive yet to do it, Ive run 46 mph. With anything, read the fine print. Anyone with 1/2 a brain will know that things are always not what they appear.

RE: Traxxas Rules
I have a pro .15 or what some call the 1.5 and it's still running. Im not saying that all trx engine are crap. But as wide open has said it's few and far between. My pro .15 has about 6 to 6 1/2 gallons through it and is still running. This engine is about 7 years old and I have just recently run it. But these engine have a history for not to many gallons and having tons of problems. Being finicky and not having a whole lot of power.
Traxxas does make claims that they cannot back up. Believe me, traxxas said the original t-maxx would do 40 mph out of the box. And we all now that it doesnt. But this whole thread was started about a guy that was bragging about an engine that has 1 gallon through it. The engine is barely broken in yet, and the guy is talking about having no problem's with it. IT'S ONE GALLON. We said to report back when he reach's 5 gallons if he can make it last that long. Oh yeah and one other thing. Just because the new t-maxx's and revo's are named 2.5 and 3.3 doesnt make the original with the pro .15 the 1.5. If anything it would also be called the 2.5. As the pro .15 is also 2.5 cc's. Sorry but thats kinda starting to annoy me. Just say you have the original t-maxx with the pro .15. There is no 1.5 t-maxx. |
RE: Traxxas Rules
I think most RC manufactures claims are over rated not just Traxxas. In the good old day if you made a claim you better be able to back it up but this day and age anything goes. Just look at all the slanderous advertising on TV. This day and age you can say anything if it is not true!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RE: Traxxas Rules
I had a couple TRX 15's that lasted over 5 gallons, but they were inconsistant. They are only effective in on 2WD vehicles. The one I had in an old T-Maxx was especially a weak puppy. I've had O.S. .10's more spirited than that. :)

RE: Traxxas Rules
I really like my trx2.5 so i take good care of it, through 3 gallons and it still starts first pull and has lots of compression. My friends 3.3 just went out after 4 gallons and he never used ARO, ran it without a pipe, so I am not gonna worry about my motor till 6 gal. There are better motors out there, but ill buy another trx2.5.

RE: Traxxas Rules
I'm glad to see some guys here do trust traxxas.
All the basher can go for it if they want, this is MY story of rc. Back when i was younger, i would have been 12. i saw the guys racing at the improvised local track. i loved it and and told them i was gonna get one. so, a year later i ended up getting a traxxas nitro sport. Not the best car, but back then it sure did feel like it. It was all that was available in my price range and it was prebuild so i was all for it. it came with the optional slipper clutch and the trx PRO [X(] 15 and i was stoked. it started easily but soon i flooded it and for some reason mine didnt come with the glow plug spanner and i broke the easy start by continuing to crank it over. long story short, i used to enjoy it soo much and loved showing it off and it cost me a bundle. I went to see the real races at maitland, 1.5 hours train trip away in the city. I watched it and met a guy and his dad who were very friendly and encouraged me to come down and race, who cared if i got flogged? it was my first try and i was young. so next month i got to the train station barely past 5;30 am and took the train there alone got away with a free day (thats the deal for noobs) ad i was down i was totally embarassed with my lack of driving skills. i went home and practiced so much and build my own mini track. i would practice every day. i got a job and slowly spent money on it, getting new shocks and everythign you guys read a couple years ago here. Then i went back and i had 2 race meets before a big yearly event, i had problems with my car but drove really well met awesome people and it felt great. I moved on from the traxxas to a factory team gt that i have now. I sure not many people here will disagree that i know what im doing and am one of the more knowledgable guys here and you know what? theres no way i would have bought a kit. theres no way i would have spent more on a better car. it was this or it. and now rc is the majority of my non education life. It is my love and now i go compete at state titles and the 'slow' traxxas made me a good driver, i had to practice like heel in order to not embarras myself. So there you are. the crap traxxas lasted forever, wasnt so reliable but what do yuo do. lead me through bad and great times and now i see rc being a very major part of my adult life. all because of a crappy RTR traxxas. What do you say to that? Dann |
RE: Traxxas Rules
I have a never had a trx 2.5 or 2.5r get less than 5 gallons, except for two times, both of which were my fault (one, the pin retainer was not properly installed, it came out and trashed the p/s, the second was because I had rockets on my rustler and they allowed the engine to over-rev drastically and I ended up splitting a conrod)
All I can say is that I have had several trx mills, and they have all been great. Unbeatable performance from a .15 at that price point, great durability, very smooth controllable power...I can't say enough good things about them. I am at a complete loss to explain why so many people have had so many problems with them. If I had only had one and it ran great, I would guess I just got lucky, but I have had quite a few now and all have been great. |
