RE: ball diff problems
I had the same problem, i rebuilt the whole diff and still did it, then i found out my clutch fried...check your clutch, if its not that then try 2 tighten the rear diff bolt. I would check your slipper clutch too.

RE: ball diff problems
i checked the clutch and its fine the slipper is adjusted properly the diff bolt just always comes loose, it is really starting to rack my brain and another question what are the 6 tiny balls for that go in between the 2 washers in the diff nut are they necessary? thanks in advance

RE: ball diff problems
yea you need those balls... that was a nightmare for me cause i bought the truck with no manual and had no idea... i just took the diff to my LHS and had them rebuild it, if you have the manual do it yourself.

RE: ball diff problems
HAY THOSE TINY BALLS YOU NEED TO USE THEM ..GREASE THEM JUST A LITTLE DAB WILL DO YA ALL WILL B FINE
AND AS FOR WHAT THEY DO THEY ACT AS A BEARING FOR THE DIFF BOLT [sm=spinnyeyes.gif] |
RE: ball diff problems
make sure the diff is in the right way, (if the adjustment screw is on the wrong side, it will loosten itself when it slipps)

RE: ball diff problems
If the diff bolt is on the wrong side of the truck, it will loosen up everytime you run it. Looking at the truck from the rear, the diff bolt allen head should be on the left side....

RE: ball diff problems
^^Looking at the truck from the rear, it should be on the right.
It is the passenger side rear(American) |
RE: ball diff problems
Hi,
Titanium diff balls? Could they cause the problem? Never heard of people using them, only chrome steel, carbide steel and ceramic. Regards Joaquim |
