Oh and im not puttin Gt2 down, cause they r the best st's right now @ the moment, but the firestorm, about like it. I guess u have to copy the winner to be a winner.

RE: -=OFFICIAL HPI FIRESTORM THREAD=-

i know i might get bashed but before you buy the firestorm make sure your lhs carries parts for it..unless you have enough money to place a big order for parts, right now not alotta people have them so parts at races will be hard to come by. But good luck to you at the races hopefully this truck will bring hpi into the racing scene in a big way..

I think the Hellfire brought HPI in to the off road racing seen and know many that race Savages including I. Yes I agree the Firestorm is a big leap forward for HPI as far as racing. You all so have to understand RC races are only 20 to 25% of the market. All so you will see in the next couple of month’s parts will be readily available and when anything new comes out it is all ways like this. If you are like me there is not any LHS around so I have to order all my stuff. That is why I have so many extra parts and have people that come to me. Matter of fact I have guy coming to night to get a 16 tooth HPI Race CB.

anyone who has theirs tuned: how many turns did you go in from stock on hsn?

Standup...

I have found that mine likes to run a little on the richer side. So I went about 1/2 turn clockwise from the factory break-in setting. I tried to run a little leaner but it didn't want to stay running, plus the thought of running too lean and replacing the engine didn't thrill the **** out of me either. I run on tight tracks so the top end speed isn't as critical for me. Hope this helps...

Being the altitude, humidity and weather conditions are different from place to place what setting one use in a location could be TOTAL different in another. It could even change in the same location day-to-day or even hour-to-hour.

ah this is true [X(] how often do you tune yours?

RE: -=OFFICIAL HPI FIRESTORM THREAD=-

I tuned mine in the cold and had to actually richen the HSN from factory.

This is very true the only part of a engine that never really needs tuneing it the LSN.........u set that once and ur good to go (if done right) for the most part the HSN needs to be adjusted everytime u go out and play but if tuned right the first time ull only have to turn the needle a quarter turn in or out depending on the day..........

yesturday i was out raceing all day and at the beging of the day i was running fine and all of a sudden it was to rich after about 3 hours of running it happens!

i am thinking about getting one too.
i`m waiting for my LHS to get them in.
i want to touch and smell it before i buy one.
i`m also waiting for my neighbor to GIVE ME
a t maxx. something about his bothers friend has one
sitting in closet broken for 4 months he just wants
to get rid of it.
i still want to get one. my LHS has them in stock but i got that t maxx from
my neighbor for 100$. i wanted to give him something for it. plus it needed about 100$ to fix.
plus i had to buy a new radio. so money tight right now.
a few questions about the storm. can it be bump started or roto started. engine being side mounted
i dought it can be roto started and how are the stock servos???

RE: -=OFFICIAL HPI FIRESTORM THREAD=-

Yes you can use a starter box and I am sure you can use a Roto starter but the starter box would be the way to go no drag of a one way bearing. I adjust both my LSN and HSN just about every time I to the track to make sure I am getting full performance. The only way to really tell is to make changes to see if the performance increases or decrease. True not as much with the LSN.

I called them the otherday he said the free shipping will be around for a minute.. I was gonna get the firestorm from there... Good truck grant you that but they also have the losi xxxnt sport rtr for 299.95 ...How can I pass the price. Thats a whole almost 50.00 differance from other market places. Save your money man that price will be there for a while.

buggymangp 01-23-2007 04:07 PM

RE: -=OFFICIAL HPI FIRESTORM THREAD=-

hopefully that price will stick around for the next few weeks
and i have a firestorm parked in my garage.
nobody answered my question about the stock servos.
are they any good or should they be upgraded???
i like my steering fast. does it pay to do the switch?
move the stock steering servo to T&B and get a faster, stronger steering servo.

hope you dont mind my breaking in here but thought i would let you know that i called hpi and ask when parts would be available and the guy said he expected a shipment in 2 days. who knows maybe the distributors will get them by 1st of feb. i plan to race on the 10th and sure would like to take some spares with me. right now all i have is stock spur gears.

buggymangp this probably isnt the answer your looking for but i have already raced once with stock servos and did just fine but like you i like a fast servo. i have been using ace digitals for about 6 mo in my other vehicles and like them better than hitec and airtronics as they seem to be more durable and reliable.(my opinion )
