well, it had a carb leak.. and i sealed it up.

Now im just trying to get the base settings so i can tune it in

it doesnt want to come back down to low rpm;'s everytime

RE: Big problems with evader engine

I got it to run a whole tank.

I put the needles back to factory, and the LSN 5 1/2 out..

It stalled like usual after warmed up.

So i leaned out the LSN 1/4 a turn.

It ran that whole tank fine..

all im doing is running half throttle with full throttle bursts every once in a while..

things will get leaned out here in a few tanks..

Did you look in the manual or try looking on there web site?

This is off Towers web site.

High Speed needle: 2 1/2 turns OUT from closed position Low Speed needle: Screw IN until flush with outside of carb body, then screw it in 1/2 turn.

Oh, wow. Im probally 1/2 to 1 1/2 richer than the factory LSN needle.

RE: Big problems with evader engine

I had to lean it out a little more. Wow, this thing is a rocket compared to my savage..

But anyway, i found out that i didnt put my sterring servo screw in to hold the horn..

ignored it by popping it back on a few times. then it got annoying. and dangerous as i dont have brakes, and when you cant steer, and your going towards the street, it is a problem..

Ok, thats good.

i got my steering worked out but it was dark.. i dont have brakes on my truck.

But when i push the brake on my TX, the engine shuts off.. how do i make the truck so the engine wont shut down when the brake is pressed?

Turn your idle speed screw so that it idles faster.

RE: Big problems with evader engine

Turning my idle speed so it idles faster would not be good... that would be bad, all that would cause is me having to hold the brake to idle if i set the linkage like that.. which with no brakes, could be a good thing...

RE: Big problems with evader engine

the idle screw keeps the carb barrel from closing, if its stalling under breaks, then the barrel is shutting all the way so no air is getting in, u need to adjust the idle screw so that it stops this, it wont up the idle, seeing its allready closing, it will just keep it from closing. U will need to wind it in until when the carb is fully closed t here is a 1mm gap

RE: Big problems with evader engine

Oh thats right, the thing called the 'idle screw'

is actually called a barrel stop screw..

K, ill try it

RE: Big problems with evader engine

Sounds to me like his radio throttle trim is up. Turn the throttle trim on the radio all the way down, so the carb is closed, then adjust the idle from there.

The trim opens the carb at the neutral trigger position, but with any brake, it allows the carby to close.
