If I had it to do all over I would have gotten the plain backing plate and a starter box instead of the pull starter. HPI makes a header pipe for rear exhaust engine for the MT. I am running a OS pipe but it has since been discontinued.

This tuned pipe looks promising

What TZ though. short shaft? or the longer shaft?

There is no long shaft rotary carb only slide that I can find on tower hobbies.

Long shaft and HPI makes a cheap kit to convert the MT from rotary to slide carb linkage.

RE: Os 18tz and MT2

Which TZ out of here 46u?

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...+.18&search=Go

And how are the diffs, do they hold up enough? I want some awesome power outta the TZ. Want to be able to whip the wheelies on demand and stuff when thrashing.

Do you just need the rear diff GPM case parts off ebay or the carbon ones from HPI. Also theres aluminum diff cups now, they look to be a good investment aswell.

Thanks for your help 46u.

RE: Os 18tz and MT2

What MT 2 do you have the RTR or the SS? If you have the RTR you nee to up grade all your drive train to SS. When I did mine HPI did not have the new diff cases but if I where to do it now I would try them first as GPM parts are junk. When I did mine I had to use the poorly made GPM case, as that is all that was available.

The TZ will have no problem making your MT over powered and you will break more parts! I had to gear mine WAY up just to keep the wheels on the ground MOST of the time. As far as which one depends on what sort of carburetor and starting system you want. I will tell you till you get the TZ broke in with a pull starter get ready to fix it numerous times as the pinch is very tight. All so use a heat gun for break in.

You can use either one with a standard or pilot shaft. The older MT before the 3.0 used a standard shaft and the 3.0 use a pilot shaft if I am not mistaken. But you can make either one work.

It sounds like too much mucking around to worry about.

My LHS's don't stock enough MT2 to keep bashing every weekend. Though heaps of traxxas jato. I'll probably end up buying one of those and throwing some off road tyres on it.

Whats the right gearing system and how often do you think the diffs will give way and strip?

I've ran a tank through my car so far, Only stripped the spur once. My diffs are shimmed correctly and I've had no problems so far.

Hah. I dont know.

What would you guys decide between?

Jato looks excellent fun and no limited where the MT2 2speed system is not for offroad :(.

I personally can't decide, I really like both cars. I only prefer the Mt2 for one main reason and thats the 4wd. It let's the car tackle more types of terrain.
