looking at geting in to r/c nitro's. i went to the hobby store and the guy recomended a hpi mt2. he only carries hpi and redcat. the mt2 is 360 rtr. is this a good truck??? what do you guys think would be best for a beginner???

well, I don't have one but they are supposed to be pretty good. If your LHS owner only carries HPI and redcat, forget about redcat, cause it sucks. But for the price of a HPI Firesorm, I would defo consider it. I'm pretty sure that the HPI MT2 has a roto start, but the firestorm can be transferred to roto is you don't like pull. Plus, you get extra money for goodies. But if your LHS for some reson doesn't carry firesotrm, the MT2 is still a very good truck to buy. contact NitroNate for details about the firesotrm.

ya he has the firestorm. i like the looks of it but its only 2wd. i have only drivin these things a few times and i heard 4wd is easyer to controll, thats why i was thinking of the mt2. the firestorm is 60bux cheaper tho:eek:

Have you ever owned a Redcat? Cause I assume you are speaking from first hand experience right?

I have the MT2 G3.0. I like it a lot so far. just make sure you go over all the screws and nuts before you run it too hard. I vibrated out one of my header screws and almost lost one of the screws holding the rear a arm on. just hit it all with a screw driver and youll be fine.

Im in the same boat your are and i've always recomended the mt2's b/c of the offroad capablities, excelleration, and durability. I've put up a poll and hopefully i get some good feedback.

thanks for the save 05darkshadowGT Just make yourself happy and get the MT2 if you got money and alot of time in your hands to tighten up all the screws, or get the Firestorm and it might be aliitle harder to drive, but not that much.

thank you guys for the imput. some of my freinds have redcats and they keep on braking parts. il probably go with the mt2 of firestorm. have any of you guys heard of the thunder tiger st-1??? its a 1/8 truggy and looks like a realy good price. anyone have any experience with these???

If you want a 4wheel drive then get the mt2 but if it is not a big deal to you then I would say get the firestorm. I have one and so far it has been doing great. Also the firestorm is a little faster then the mt2.

is 2wd much harder to control on a track compared to 4wd???

yes it is but if you learn on 2 wheel drive and change to 4x4 they are sooo much easier to handle. I bought i 2 wheel drive first b/c i wanted wild handling so i'd be better once i got 4x4.

if your going for the mt2 try and get the 18ss version its alot better only thing is its a kit you have to build it has the parts you will probably end up replacing

If the only thing you have ever driven before is four wheel drive,then expect the firestorm to be somewhat difficult for you to handle.If you get the firestorm you will often find yourself raising the bar more and more,which is pretty much the same for all HPI trucks,the mt2 is no exception.However,if you want a truck that has a lot of hop-ups avalible,then you probably will want to get the mt2.If you are planning on raceing as well as bashing,then the firestorm's stability and speed pretty much talks for itself.You can't go wrong buying HPI trucks,as they are made with extreme durability!;)

ok thanks guys for all the imput. i should be going to the hobbie shop on monday and buying the mt2 or firestore. ill decidew when i get there and look at both of them:).
