Propane

Hey, Im tryin to design a way to make a rc run on propane. It would be a lot cheaper, and the, motor would last a lot longer. If any one has any ideas, or comments feel free to leave them.

Good luck! Are you going to build your own motor or are you going to get a os 21tm for example and make it run off propane?

You would have to design a whole new intake system for a 2 cycle................it would be fun if you could come up with a way to calibrate the mixture..............might be able to do it with a slide carb.........Good luck [:-]

Yea Im gonna do a lot of reasearsh and find some info to get a motor going. It could work but its gonna be a lot of work.

call me crazy but i doubt this will work for more than a few min. car fuel has oil in it to lubricate the parts. if you run straight propane you will cease the motor.

you could mix 2 cycle oil with it...just like 2 cycle gas engines

Fork lifts run on propane.So do all the gas co.vans.

any gas engine can be converted BUT they have to have an oil tank. A nitro motor does not. propane is a gas not a liquid how could you mix oil with it?

i agree. probably the only rc engine that you can make run off of propane would be a 4 stroke

maybe if you had an oil spray that entered the engine right as it was sucking fuel in?? that may work, ya, on a 2 stroke engine, the revs are WAY to fast to work on propane, somethin like a 4 stroke would work much better[8D]

you know that would be pretty cool but yea..you need oil and you cant get oil in a gas...lol

but yea i`m sure this would be doable, and thing of the + like indoor running and CHEAPER fuel...lol

only thing is, you have to have it pressurized and that can be a problem if you hit something, unless you had a CF tank made[X(]

and you would have to use a 4-stroke since it has valves you wont waste any of the Gas
cuz if it was a 2-stroke it would just get to BDC and let all the pressure out..lol
