Help, Nitro running problems
my sons nitro sport runs fine when started after sitting for a while but after about 5-10 mins of running it dies and is very hard to start if we can get it to start at all. it is running
about 200-210 and has blue smoke out the exhaust. it almost seems like it floods out. it also seems to be losing its prime. i pulled the fuel line off the tank and blew threw it and got it to start and it ran about another 5 mins and died. what could be the problem. i don't see any holes in the fuel lines. the truck has only had about a 1/2 gal of fuel thru it. i am out of ideas thanks for the help shane |
RE: Help, Nitro running problems
If you haven't changed it from break-in, then the plug should be changed.(could change it anyway...just to be sure)
200-210 sounds a bit on the cool side. You are probably right on the money with your diagnosis of flooding. Lean out the hsn a bit to see if that helps. 230-280 is the generally acceptable range of temps...I usually try not to get too much over 250, though, just to be well into the 'safe zone'. A hot engine will always push the fuel back into the tank...That is what makes them such a pain to restart warm. If I don't get fuel in time to keep it running, I just plan on taking 5-10 minutes to cool off. Then it pops right off like normal. |
RE: Help, Nitro running problems
I would also check the fuel tank for air leaks.
