RC10GT2 or Firestorm?

Firestorm is obviously cheaper and has a bigger engine, BUT RC10GT2 has a retarded amount of hop ups including aluminum arms which Firestorm lacks, as far as I saw.

I'm leaning more on the RC10gt2 since I heard it has enough power and it's barely noticeable against the .18 on the firestorm, and I could eventually buy a new, more powerfull engine.

Any ideas please?

ps: I already have a Maximum ST pro and its the biggest pain in my ass. Something ALWAYS goes wrong when I run it. And I'd like to save for a new car.

To be honest, I don't do either, I just want a car I can have some fun with, I'm not gonna beat the crap out of it, I want something that will just work. Off road and On Road.

ebay a xxxnt or rc10 for cheep and hoop up all the parts and you will have a better car for the cost of a rtr or just a bit more and by the time you hop up all the parts and get a trick motor you will have 2 cars or you can rebay the car you make out of the old parts to make up for some of the cost

+1 on that. I seen a xxx-nt go for $85 RTR and a roller (no electronics or motor) go for $15+$10 shipping.

Give the Firestorm a couple more months yet and let the aftermarket make a move.Even now there are a decent amount of hop-ups from HPI,www.neweramodels.com,Hot racing, and TBR racing.I hardly call that a few...
I totally love my Firestorm! It hasn't let me down in any way!I've had it for almost a year now and only spent $35 in repairs!

Who says the Firestorm don't have enough hop-ups?:D

RE: RC10GT2 or Firestorm?

That's the 259.99 Firestorm? Are those Alum Arms? I looked around Tower and they barely have any Hop Ups for it.

I was really looking into the RC10GT2 since it looks pretty durable and there's about a ton of Aluminum parts and etc for it. I rather buy an aluminum part when something breaks then the same part it was before. Engine wise: Sure the .15X engine is smaller then the .18 on the firestorm. But I read reviews and they said the .15x still gives out a kick. And I could eventually upgrade the engine to an OS or something. But if there's something out there for a better price and long term durability with parts I'm down to look into it.

How about this: I need a car that's less then $300 with a good amount of Hop Ups. I like upgrading things. Deal?

Also, let me see what's under your hood!

does that $300 include fuel, batteries, starter box, (if needed) charger and all of your other assesories?>

and if your going to do aluminum, be carefull at what you convert. you will find a weak spot further back... if you hit something hard enough something WILL break, if not the a-arm then it will be a bulkhead or shock tower or so on

Yeah, it includes everything I need to start. I already have fuel and 2 glow sticks. I was looking at some cars on Ebay, but I rather buy a brand new car, the Firestorm is 259.99 and the RC10Gt2 is 294.95 or something. I'm leaning towards those two. I saw some Redcat cars which are oddly cheap, but for some reason they don't look very reliable.

Here's what's under my RC10GT hood. Trinity Draked .12 modified racing engine, $300.00, I had it for a year now and has yet to be started, I don't think I'll ever run this engine. Notice the name Drake the red arrow in the picture points to it, that was written with a hand dremel, from Adam Drake himself, when he tuned this engine personelly. PRICELESS!!!!!!! Trinity no longer makes this awesome engine.

BlindObject look into a Losi xxx-nt best st out there imo. This is what I would get xxx-nt,Rc10 gt2,Jato then firestorm.I have all of these and my favorite is the xxx-nt and my least favorite is the firestorm to many issues with the storm.Go with the xxx-nt or gt2 and you will be a happy camper:D

241 racing has a flawed Firestorm from the factory. You can't go by his ratings of the Firestorm....[&o]

'Under the hood'is a O.S .18 CV-RX engine
Alloy a-arms,
Alloy a-arm mount,
Bulkhead reinforcement plate,
RPM rod ends,
Custom-made wheelie bar,
Axial 2.2 Rockster beadlocks,
Pro-line dirt works,
Futaba S3305 MG BB High torque steering servo

I had this thing for nearly a year now and spent only around $40 dollars in repairs!

RE: RC10GT2 or Firestorm?

Hm, I just realized I don't have much money, so I'll probably just get the firestorm since it looks like a reliable machine. I'll be ordering as soon as I deposit my money, and getting hop ups as soon as I get my next pay check. =)

I was also looking for MT's, but they're more money, and my G/f is already getting the 289.99 Tower Terror.

Thanks alot guys. :D

RE: RC10GT2 or Firestorm?

Great choice! The Firestorm has a lot more value than what the price tag says.IMO,it would still sell at $300.Thats what HPI is good at.:DI know I may sound "stuck-up" with HPI,but I don't see any reason in choosing a differant company,as HPI has everything I could want on their trucks.

Keep us posted.;)

Good luck finding Hop-ups for Stormy, but it is a good kick around truck and there mill is easy to keep tuned. If you haven't done nitro before you should buy from an LHS so you have support. $50.00 or $100.00 goes a long way when your learning Nitro. Another thing you might want to consider is the 4x4 is much easier to drive than a real ST.........like the MT2 [:-]

RE: RC10GT2 or Firestorm?

I've been in the Nitro R/C for a while, the condition of my Duratrax Maximum ST PRO will tell you.

I'm personally happy with my purchase, which will be coming this week, and I'm not very worried with Hop Ups, I found a good amount of them, from Hot Racing and NEM. They already have the metal arms and couple other metal pieces, but I'm sure they will make more eventually. I think the car model is new, it came out about 2 years ago.

I promise to post pictures and videos of it even at my nearby track. And I'm probably buying hop ups soon too, and I'm surely posting pictures of that also.

=)

I have been seeing NEW xxx-nt sport rtr 2's going for $150-$250 on ebay because Losi just discontinued them. but they still have ALOT of aftermarket parts.
