So is it a good truck? Any known issues?

The_Collector 12-19-2009 09:46 AM

RE: Help with nitro truck!!

Everthing made has issues. Mostly just inconvenience with this one, becuase parts only come from Tower. It's still a good beginner. If it runs as it is now, you're set. Apparently, the last person was really determined to get that engine in. The chassis got hacked up, I see. Lose the tires on it now and get some good rubber. It won't be very stable with what it has.

The recoil assembly (DTXG0751) is in stock now at Tower. The old number is DTXG0750. $16.99, still available.

Oh yeah what body can i put on this truck? The body it came with is pretty much shot.

RE: Help with nitro truck!!

bodies are hard calls.
If you have a LHS nearby you could go there and see if they carry 1/10 truck bodies, and try and line one up to the vehicle.

I'm very lucky in that department my LHS literally has an entire basement of truck and car bodies, just go down and plop em on :D

Other idea is go on towers site look up 1/10th scale bodies (I'm assuming its 1/10th scale) and when you click on one it gives the dimensions. You will have to measure out your cars wheelbase width length etc and try and find a match, and hope it's a nice fit.

RE: Help with nitro truck!!

I tried my tamiya mighty bull body and no avail. It holes are not wide enough to fit the towers on the truck.

The one tower sells it with

you will need paint I personally like Parma Faskolor paint its easy to work with and cleans up with water and able to be brushed on with a paint brush. (just make sure it says for Lexan)

list of replacement parts they sell

I don't recommend the Faschange colors with a paintbrush, those need a airbrush. And I was told by my LHS the cherry red does not look like cherry red it looks more like a mud color :D

Wow kinda stupid Tower don't include decals with the body

The narrow Associated truck bodies fit pretty well, like the T3 and GT.

Thanks so when i order the pullstart i need the bearing right?

SyCo_VeNoM 12-22-2009 01:02 PM

RE: Help with nitro truck!!

does it have a broken pullstart on it already?

if it does take it off and see if the one way bearings in it already. If it is you probably don't need one.

dudecat 12-22-2009 01:07 PM

RE: Help with nitro truck!!

No the previous owner took it off the motor. So i don't see any bearings either.

SyCo_VeNoM 12-22-2009 01:17 PM

RE: Help with nitro truck!!

I had one of those trucks way back when. In 2003 i believe. I never did have any luck out of mine. I bought it new, and the engine was junk from day 1. I broke the chassis brace that connects to the transmission, and for some reason they made the truck extremely narrow. I didnt really break anything major on mine, but the engine never ran good enough for me to drive it much at all.

I hate to sound negative, but if it were me, knowing what i know now, and owning both, I would sell that for whatever you can get for it on ebay, and buy a nice, used nitro sport or nitro rustler for $120 or so. If you get $50 for it on ebay, and you take the $70 you were going to spend on the parts for it(engine and chassis plate), then you will have enough to buy a nice used sport or rustler and it will seriously be twice the truck, and be sooo much easier to get parts and info on. I owned an old nitro rustler with the pro .15 engine and it really was a MUCH better truck all around than the tower truck was.

Now, that said, the tower truck might be ok, but if you are going to have to spend $70 on it, im not sure its worth it.

Eric
