Nitro Rustler Gearing
I am new to the general RCcar/truck hobby. I enjoy just driving it around like crazy. Iam wondering if Ishould change any gearing. If I do, what does what? More teeth, higher speed, less teeth quicker acceleration? I am sorry to sound like a moron, but there has to be an easy answer.
My Rustler does not pull wheelies, which I like. But, when going over small jumps the front always heads straight to the ground and it rolls end over end. What can Ido to increase a level "flight"? It is brand new, got it for Christmas, so the newest model. Thanks for your patience and help. |
RE: Nitro Rustler Gearing
i think its lower clutch bell = higher torque- higher spur gear= higher torque. than it just the opposite for speed. give your truck some gas as your in the air.

Increasing clutchbell size and/or decreasing spur gear size willincreased top speed but sacrifices acceleration Decreasing clutchbell size and/or increasing spur gear size will decreased top speed but car will havebetter acceleration off the line Try throttle and brake control when in the air to level the vehicle (hit gas to bring nose up, brake to bring it down). Also try it pre-jump (on or off the throttle at the point of leaving the jump). Shock oil and spring rate plays a part in this too. |
RE: Nitro Rustler Gearing
Ok. Ithink Iwill leave the gearing around for now. Iunderstand what everyone is saying, but Iam not sure what Iwant really. I will have to play around with jumping it more, maybe a little bigger so there is a bit more time to try changing the throttle.
Are there any mods I should do to it, or anything that can make a big change in any aspect of the truck? Or just keep running it around? |
