Old School Body and Rims
Does anyone know where I can find a really pimped out, old school body. I also wanna get some of those golden, old school spoke rims. I think that would be a really cool setup.

RE: Old School Body and Rims
I know bolink makes a '64 Impala. Not the most detail, but still kind of cool. Not sure where to get the gold rims though. I think RC Car Action had an article a couple years back on making a low rider using servos as hydraulics so you might want to check their website to see if they have any articles on it. I think that car also those gold wheels too. Good luck and hope you find it.

bolink has crappy detail.. They don't have a lexan film outside.. god.. I had two nice bolink bodies.. and I messed up both of them.. I had the old Mustang and the old Comaro body. The comaro body didn't come out too bad.. the mustang body came out ok.. but argh! fustrating sometimes..

I thought that the products made by Pegasus was made for scale model cars, and not for RC cars, but I will check on that....Thanks...Studysession, awesome job with your bodies and nice paint job, although I sorta agree that the detail on the body itself is rather low. Nevertheless, these types of bodies will certainly serve their purpose for what Im trying to do...Thanks a lot

Thanks - It does lack some detail. but looks cool. It is awful driving the big mercury style bodies. When you go around a corner, it will spin. Nothing truely holding it down, like the car bodies with lower center of gravity and have a wing.

Wow, both you guys did really nice jobs with the painting...i just got the '61 chevy impala body...if it comes with no film over the body, whats the best way to mask it without ruining the shinyness of the final product?

I put plastic wrap over it and then put some making tape around the edges.....but i never thought of puttin a little heat to it,thats not a bad idea!Might be worth a try.

RE: Old School Body and Rims
i think i had tried that 3 or 4 years ago and the results werent good...I used to work at a hobby shop for a summer job, and i would seal boxes using that method, but the plastic we used was much thicker, so there was enough of it to expand and assume different shapes. Plastic wrap might be to thin to use a blow dryer with, but its definitely worth a shot...

Go get 3M Blue masking tape.
Its removable. If you're at a good hardware/paint store they might even have a few other 3M tapes with varying levels of adhesion.

I took the bag it came in.. and taped it to the body on the other side.. took me a while, was so ugly.. and I couldn't find out what the body looked like until I was completely done....
