Any ideas on how to create realistic ghost flames?

Add some dry pearl to the body color and use it for the flames. I have House of Kolor automotive urethane that has dry pearls but I dont see why they wouldnt work in the other paints. If you cut the flames out on the body, I would be careful not to cut too deep or else you will get grooves which might ruin the "ghost" look you are going for. Good luck and post some pics when you finish it.

Try and get it custom made somewhere?

I'd do that!

just mask it off,and lightly spray it with a pearl color and back it with a solid..the lighter you go with the pearl the more "ghostly" they will be.
