I don't think so......I bet electrical tape should do just fine.

I think that electrical tape would be too hard to cut for fine cuts.

It tends to shred rather then cut in my experiences.

i have tried it before and it doesnt work real well. electrical tape is elastic, so it tends to return to its orignal shape. this plays havoc when u are trying to mask of corners. plus - it doesnt stick very well, and tends to lift a bit, causing over spray. stick to what the pros use, painters masking tape.

Plus, electrical tape is thicker then masking tape, so it would make it harder to cut.

the blue kind is a lil light on the adheasive. i noticed that too. i like the tan better. but the blue will work, just make sure u really rub it down good with ur fingernail around the edges.

I've used it in a few places and it worked for me. If you read the 'How To Paint' website everyone talks about, I believe he mentions using electrical tape there and I believe he has success with it.

I prefer masking tape though and havent used electrical tape much, just for a bumper or two. I didnt have a problem with residue.

He talks about the tape in the Masks section.

electrical tape is more a pain in the arse.

the blue tape you got is a medium tack. you might try the green or tan instead. the white is whay to light.

i use the blue for many things, but it is not heavier enough in tack for me for the use on lexan.

i was wondering, can i paint the wheel well? or will that effect the paint job when i am cutting out the wells and the body...? and how many ppl use the regular masking tape that can be bought from home depot, like i mean regular tan big fat roll for like a buck or two masking tape... and how affective is the green tape?

if you use the right paint and everything you wont have to worry about getting it on the wheel wells. on my first body i painted i used this blue tape it was awesome. It is painters choice stuff and leaves no resadue on the body and stays in place. I would use that tape it isan't real expensive andworks great.
