Default Soda Bottles?

How affective is using a cut up soda bottle as a practice body? Can you still use the same techniques of painting?

Well i dont know how effective that would be. If i want to practice I just go to my local hobby shop and get a throw away body that is old and cant be sold. He gives them to me for free and thats what i practice on.

what i use is an old window. i just paint on the one side of it and turn it around to see what it looks like. after im done i just use a razor blade and laquer thinner or water (depending on the paint i use) to clean it off and start over. works really nicely.

I used cleaned out plastic soda bottles to prototype my latest design. I'm doing flames on the front, and a kinda torn effect on the back. I coated the inside with liquid masking and then drew the design on the outside. I'm perfecting my airbrush shadow technique to give more depth to the flames and the rip/torn effects. Plastic bottles are good because you just throw them away after you practice. I have observed the same paint adhesion and spreading patterns as on regular lexan bodies.

I practice on transparency sheets (8.5 X 11) that can picked up at any office supply store. They are good for trying out new techniques, and they can be stored in a binder for future reference.
