Default Underglow help

I recently bought one of those big ol H2's they have at Walmart, I've been "pimpin" it out lately, i modeled a stero sytem into the back and and almost done with the spinners.

I was wondering if anyone knew of a way i could put underglow on my hummer?????

Rc neons have some under body lighting kits, but for real high costs...you should post pics of this car

I vote for using some LEDs instead of real neon. if you hide them right and position them right, you can make them look like neon tubes...not a huge selection of colors, but you can get the basics like red, blue, green, orange, etc. they're really low wattage so it shouldn't be too bad on your batteries. just a thought..

its nothing special, just a standard electric powered RC from Wally World (so don't make fun of it), its more or less a modeling projecy more than it is a RC thing. I used to do Warhammer, and thoguht i'd try cars.

I'm thinking of takeing of the stereo that i put in it, and trying to replicate the fiber glass sub racks

I have an Evader ST, that's my RC project, but its currently busted up pretty bad

They make (Streetglow and others) 6" neon tubes for stereo accents in real cars, you could use 2 of those and there'd be none brighter! The hard part is gettin a 12v source on your car.

they also make EL (electroluminescent) cable. basically neon wire. it too runs off 12v though, so that would be a problem. would be interesting to see if it'll still light up with whatever voltage your batt. puts out.

by the way, how does that hummer drive? been lookin for a nice inexpensive RC car to start off with that I could customize a bit..

i know of a way to get those dash board neons onto a rc car

-first cut off the cigerate adapter so that thers just the 2 wires

-then get 2 of those rectangle 9v batteries and hook them up in a parelel circuit(this is 18 volts but because of the parelel circuit it will be a little lower volts and will last longer)

-as long as u have room onder ur boddy for the batteries of each neon your all set

but i think that its a different size voltage, cause the car its self runs on a 9.6 volt, and has mad power compared to the 9 volt that u mentioned, so idk if it would work, unless you've tryed it and it work, i could be wrong

its just a guess..because i know those neons on rcneons.com run on a 9v and it say they last up to 20 hours before a recharge.. or if u wanted the exact power u could do one 9v and 2 AA's (1.5v each) and you would have the exact 12v

but at wally world u can get little tiny 5 inch neons....how much power could that really take to run

just a idea, i also purchased that hummer and i got a good tip... cut off the really ugly bumper on front and just leave the small one, and then cut the springs out of the shocks, and it lowers it

coolness, i thought about lowering it but wasn't sure how, did it butterfly the tires when u did it, or affect the way it drives?

well i didnt do it to that car but it didnt really affect the drive much if i cant cut the springs out completley on the hummer cut some out, push down on the car and see how lo it gos before the tires rub if they do then gut it so it sits there. if ur abble to cut it out completly make sure u glue the 2 plastic parts together.

no, no pics, the dash glow didn't work in a real car, so i took it back, and i haven't gotten another yet

however, i have seen these things that look like battery operated glow sticks, and they're only about 3 bucks a pop! so i'm gonna try those

and i finally got the body apart and am painting the interior

I've used those before... Trust me it's not worth it... You are better off just buying them from www.rcneon.com. They have top notch stuff! I have the 6 light kit and it runs off of a regular 9 volt bat. Even has working brake lights... they get brighter when you hit the brakes... Check out the site...

What Escalade said was right about using 2 nine volts but since your having 18 volts
instead of 12 it will probably kill the neons so you will need a resistor.

The glow sticks. They have a colored wand on top of a little flash light type thing with an LED light in it.
I've also used separate little keychain flash lights with the LED lights too.
The problem with all of them is that you know the exact voltage of each light. Also it's hard to get replacement bats for them and by the time you buy a switch, bat pack and do the reasearch to purchase all of the resistors you will need, you will probably spend as much money as you would if you just buy them. In addition to that, RC Neon kits come with all the mounting hardware and are already set up to the right voltage and use a typical 9v bat. Just my opinion. It was fun to make my own but I ended up buying the kit anyway because it was better in the long run.

Da R/Cer-I could be wrong but i don't think that it will work, 2 9volts batteries add up to 18 yes, but the 12volts the dash board glows use is a 12 volt car battery, its on a different voltage level i think, casue there is no possible way 2 9volts are more the a car battery

garynjr-Yeah u've got a point, and about the RCneon kits, are they pretty bright, cause my hummer sits about 6 inchs off the ground, and i don't wanna but it if they're not gonna show up
