removing masking tape residue.
I am painting my first shell and I was wondering how do I remove sticky residue left after removing the masking tape. I have just painted the first colour and remived the mask and in a few places the masking tape has left some of the adhesive behind on the shell.
I didn't want to wash it out because of the fresh paint. Any ideas??

What tape did you use, if you used cheap stuff then it tends to leave a residue, I have got some on my spoiler - I tried lighter fluid but it did not really work. Also how long did you leave it on for, I now have some professional masking tape which can be left on for three days without residue.

RE: removing masking tape residue.
try windex it works...I normally use a product called goo-gone spray gel...its not really a gel, it is similar to windex(orange in color and smells like orange) but it is made specifically for sticky/sticker removal...old inspection stickers on cars etc....you can probably find some in any department store...i usually by mine at auto department stores-its also handy to have around the house...It works well.good luck.
