Default My first attempt at using metal flake...

Here are my two latest bodies. I painted the 12th scale body with Tamiya translucent orange and then put on the Parma Fasglitter. I did the same for the truck only i used Pactra candy blue.

Good job eh, those turned out very nice! I just did my first attempt with silver metal flake as well over the weekend. Painted a RX-8 body, gunmetal grey ... and it came out awesome ... never been so happy about a paint job. Took some pics, but they don't do it justice, will try to do some better ones tonight. Basically, I am now a big fan of the silver flake!!!

They look GREAT! Love the glitter. How are you applying it?

mine I used that Pactra silver metal flake, added a little black & white to grey it up, a little thinner, and just air brushed even coats until I ran out ... then backed it with a metallic, gun metal grey color.

I like the look of metal flake, but I don't like to use it for painting...dunno why! I use substitutes for it!

Thanks for the compliments! All i did to put the glitter on was poke a hole in the cap and shake the bottle and let the glitter fall on the body while the transparent paint was still wet. I did that three times on the truck body and twice on the 12th scale body.

At first I didn't think the glitter would be as evenly applied as it is, but the shaking-method seems to work pretty well! If you want to use the glitter be careful when you open the bottle-when you pull the cap off it has a tendency to "poof" out of the bottle and get all over everything, now my garage floor sparkles in the light.

Ever heard of glitter glue?..I sometimes use that as a substitute!
