i have never painted a body and was gouing to paint a clear body shell matt black then i relized it would be shiny. so is there anyway i can have matt black?

Other than painting on the outside, I would say no.

Like SilentWolv said, you have to paint it on the outside. The reason is because the clear plastic is shiny, so no matter what type of paint you use on the inside, there will still be a degree of shiny"ness". But, if you paint the outside, it will chip off really easily if you race with it.

what if he etched the outside of the body

micheals crafts sells liquid etcher for glass. you only leave it on for 5 miniutes so you would have to shorten the time alot. he probably would have troubles getting it to come out perfect and even. since i have the etcher and a spare wing ill give it a try in a miniute .

doogie494, He can etch the outside, but I doubt it'll look good. The etching is probably gonna be more attractive than the paint. toyota1991, I think you are talking about glass etching cream. I've never tried it on plastic before, so I don't know the results. Hurry up, I want to know!

what if i use very fine grit glass paper to take the shine of the outside. would that work?

Hm...I'm not that sure. All I know is that sanding the outside will make the plastic look white. It might not allow all the black to show through. Go ahead, try it. But do it on scrap Lexan first!

i practice on water botles and i cut them in half and paint the inside. just waiting for paint!

you could use like 700-1000 grit sand paper and LIGHTLY wet-sand the body BEFORE paint. it should take the harsh gleam to it. after you use matt. black, it should look awsome.
