First paint job... DONE!!
Wohoo, I finally finished painting my new body today. I've been doing it since about 9:00 this morning. lol
Anyway, it went pretty smoothly.... but... I did have a significant scare when I went to remove my flame mask and only the top layer of paper came up on some parts! AAHHHGGHH! lol An hour of pain-staking removal of all the "goo" turned out really good in the end... can hardly even tell I had problems.
You can't really tell from the pics, but all colors have wonderful little metallic flecks in them. Looks pretty neat if you ask me.
I tried using a background of white to lighten things up... but I think I put the colors on too thick before I got to that. lol Anyway, this is just how I wanted it anyway.
And speaking of the problem with my mask... what do you guys use for custom masks? I used a type of lable paper (full sheet... no precut pieces) and gave me problems. Proved to be OK in the end though.
Anyway, lemme know what ya think, and thank you all sooooooo much for the help along the way! This is the best forum I've seen with speedy and HELPFUL responses!

Looks really good. You will get better each time you do one. If you turn out like me then you find your self buying bodies just to paint and you dont really need them. Keep up the good work.

Well I learned my lesson... what you pay for is what you get. Don't use Testor's model paints for your bodies. I actually expected this so I'm not shocked... but upon a few uh... "less than plesant" landings the paint is chipping all over the top. lol
Aw schucks... I guess that means I need to go get a new body. Darn...

Struve43, didn't you already ask that in another post?? I think you should just start a whole new thread, it will be a lot more interesting. But no, I don't think anyone would paint it because it wouldn't last. It would probably flake off before it even touched the car. Dye might shrink it in the process of going through hot water, so that wouldn't work either.

Good first attempt man, I like the blue alot - did you primer the body before painting it? as that should stop the paint chipping.
Also - when I spray painted my second body, it came with stickers on it. So I removed the stickers and used WD-40 to get rid of the sticky parts...
The paint will not stick to areas if WD-40 has been used and not totally removed.
Neways keep up the good work

Um fraetus how would that work seeing that you paint a body from the inside.
But boss if you spray it with RUST-O LEUM gloss white after you paint it this will help keep it from chipping and protect it from the nitro helps alot and makes the colors alot brighter and you can get a can of it at WAL-MART for like 2 bux
Looks good though
