This was my first body. It's actually a goof up. The lower section is supposed to be more orange but I was impatient and painted the purple and backing color to early. I still like the way that it turned out.

Thanks for looking. GM, this is the last of the shots that turned out. I took the car into work and left it to work on the engine. I can get another shot of it tomorrow if this one doesn't work out. I want to get the HPI Baja body and do a black/pirate theme. Anyone know of a skull and crossbones decal set or paint masks?

Thats pefect. So many cool ideas on that site. I may have to order two VW Baja bodies.

Here's another crazy question. Is HPI's MT2 18SS body the same fit as the RS4? Is the RS4 also the MT? like HPI RS4 MT2 18SS? I have seen that so many times on ebay and elsewehere. I want to get this one but don't want something that isn't going to fit.

I want to try a body. Do I need the special paint. I heard that regular spray paint works fine, is this true or do I need other stuff.

You need polycarbonate or lexan-compatible paint, otherwise it will chip off as the body flexes.

Some of the darker colors are transparent also. (I didn't know this) You'll need to get white or silver to back them up. Is expensive really. It's one of the reasons why I'm going to get an air brush and compressor. Should save on paint in the long run.

The only experience that I speak from is what I did above. You'll be fine. I ordered the Baja above and plan to do a black pirate theme thing...dunno yet.

Yeah, metallic colors and pearl colors are semi-transparent. Silver or white brighten them, but for a darker effect you can back with black. Myself, I backed with several coats of silver then protected the finished paint job with spray-on truck bed liner. Didn't affect the brightness of the finished product as such.
