I just bought a crowd pleaser for my revo and want to try something new. I have done several paint jobs before but, they have always ben single color jobs. I want to paint my crowd pleaser using two colors RED and YELLOW.
I am going to use the flag desing called the Rising Sun
The circle (YELLOW) will be torwards the front of the hood. The beams (which will be in yellow) will expand in all directions covering more area as they get further away. The rest of the car will be painted in red. I have an air brush it's not the best but, it should be able to do this simple design since there will be no fades.
My question is how should I go about creating the paint job. I know I will have to do some masking. Should I mask everything they will be yellow off and lay down the red paint. Wait for it to try take the mask off and mask all the red next and paint the yellow?
Or do I paint the whole body red then mask off the yellow. This part has be confused. I will be using masking tape for RC bodies to mask off the design. All the lines will be straight lines so it should be hard to create a mask for this.

get some masking fluid, i just did my first shell using masking fluid, and its WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better than anything else!! so easy to use, you just paint on a couple of layers, wait for it to dry, draw your design on, cut it out and paint! straight lines are not a problem.
paint the shell from the inside(i assume it is a clear lexan type...), and then start off with the darkes colour, in your case the red. then you go on to the yellow, and finally(i always do) finish off with a white backing. so simple!!!
any more questions, ask away, someone will help you out!
just my 2c................

So should I paint the entire body red then mask it off and pain the yellow on top of the red. Or do I mask the yellow off and paint the red. Remove the mash then mash the red off and paint the yellow?

mask out the bits you DONT want red, ie the yellow bits, leaving the rest exposed for painting in red. do two or three light coats, waiting for it to dry nbetween. then once its dry, peel off the masking to expose the bits you want yellow, and do 2 or 3 light coats again. finally finish off with 2 coats of white.
hope this helps.....

The yellow might change the shade of the red slightly. You can spray some silver or white to back the red with it you want to be sure that the yellow doesn't effect it.

After having the body sititng for months I am ready to paint it finally.
I just hope it looks alright when I put the mask on. The body has a lot of curves so it may not look that good.
