I am tired of tearing up bodies quickly. The LHS recoed Shoe Goo. Said to take drywall repair tape (the sticky kind with a checkered pattern) place it over the problem areas, then Shoe Goo the entire body. I am having the hardest time finding the stuff. Shoe stores and hardware stores in my area do not carry it. Where do you have luck finding it? Then how do you spread it around the body, I know it is kinda like silicone in a tube. Do I want to put it on thinly or in heavy gobs? And Lastly does it really work to extend the life of the body? If the drywall checkered tape works well with it, why not do the entire body just not the problem areas?
Any help would be great.

Yes it works very well, but with the drywal tape and the shoe goo (or you can also get Household or Automotive Goop) you will have a very heavy body. If it's on a nitro car or just just bash around it's not that big of a deal.
Check Wal-Mart as they usually carry Shoe Goo or Goop. Autoparts stores are another good place to check.

I have used GOOP many times.I use it on new bodies i paint. You know those areas that seem to get split first. The corners of fenders and roof and trunk lid.Just spread a little dab in the corner before you ever use the body.If i get a crack after the body has been run, then just clean it good TAPE THE OUTSIDE WITH MASKING TAPE,apply GOOP to the inside and let dry, then remove tape.I have beat up some bodies pretty good and this stuff is really tuff.
