A easy way to shade any color is to use FasKolor FasTint.
You will want to reduce the FasTint anywhere from 25-50%. This will make the FasTint almost transparent.
You will simply apply three or four coats. The area should look hazzy or slightly grey. Anything beyond this and the effect is lost as the shadowing becomes to dark.

So you paint the flames or what ever your wanting, then before you paint the rest of the body, you spray FasTint on the outline area of the flame? To you have to do any additional masking?
