Ok, first off "NEVER" say you have no talent...????
you can do this...

keep in mind i sure did not lean it overnight..
and there people a heck of alot better than me .....but i have fun doing it...
for some maybe they can't paint? but i bet they have other talents many are not aware of
but i bet with just a little time i am sure they could do there own bodies pretty good....

Like Para, looking at his personally i thought was really nice...sometimes the simple stuff is hard??
as goofy as that sounds sometimes it is? takes some time and effort, i have seen allot of paint jobs around here that many
of the "So-So" painters make fun of but i think they look pretty good!!

ok, good example this goes off the path but,
"Picasso" dang now look at those paintings!!! one would think what the !!!!
but if one can Admire just the fact he did what he did, you can see it much differently..
best part, i am learning new stuff every day, anyone ever tells ya they know it all, it usally means they do not know a whole lot?
and Terry Hill once said and he's one hell of a airbrush artist !! we dont make mistakes we find new ways of figuring it out.
painting is the easy part...but the preperation is the hard part,
and i have a video i finished on painting a "Basic-Basic" paint job that i feel many should be able to do with little hardship in doing it.
here's a pic of the finished body i did it on a Losi 8ight buggy....

ok, here is Pt 4 for the paint of the skull project..

http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v4...aintingPt4.flv

and here is the finished skull in a pic since the video is kinda hard to see....
the only thing i added, a friend kept asking me to finish the "Teeth"
so i added a little "Over Reduced" White and added a little more of the Brown to seporate the "Teeth"
about another 10 minutes the following day.....
i usually add allot more detail but like i mentioned in the video was a quick project for all those that said "Spraying" with a Airgun you would get Runs, and use up an entire bottle...
hope this can help inspire more...

really almost nothing you can't do if you put your mind to it.....
heck everyone i ever talked to when istarted out in both paiting (Years Ago!) and when i started Racing said you can't do this or that?
guess what? after awhile they were asking for my advice!!!.....LOL...
in R/C racing only people that really ever helped me were Paul Colman,Brian Kinwald,Richard Saxton,Louis F. and G.L. Cooper
everyone else hated my ablity to drive....
same for my painting.... but "Never In the Automotive world" just the r/c crowds....

in 1981 when i started painting "Drum Shells" and Cymbils making them look like trash cans, or just about anything they wanted?
everyone said "You Can't Do That"
by 1986, i couldn't keep up with my work! had to give out my work to anyone that could do it, that would try it.....
same for my guitars and others i would paint at that time as well....
so remember if you dont try it?? you wont know if you can or can't do it?? at least if you try? you can say well i tried it !!!

Thank you so much for posting that!!! I've painted a few bodies with an airbrush but they were pretty basic. Seeing your techniques has definately given me confidence to try something new and different. Now, I'm heading out for more paint so I can start on a body for a friend of mine.

well like all things i do, i am only glad they were able to help those that needed that little extra.....

i was going to do one, based around using "NO Airbrush" equipment.....
just "RATTLE CANS"....i did one for UNDERGROUND R/C but you have to "PAY For it" and no i don't see a dime from it...
did it to help the general public
but thought about doing one like that here if anyone would like???? let me know...

by the way, were getting rid of some Airbrushes "There Brand New" never used they just have a Flaw on the Chrome on the back..
kinda like the "Levi's" that are missing the tiny red tag on the back...there "LEVI'S" just th tiny tag is missing or doesnt say "Levi's"
same on the brushes......
there the Equivilent of the IWATA Custom Micron CM-Plus these run about 390.00 to 425.00
but getting rid of them for 100.00
these you can paint a line you almost "Can't See"
anyone Interested let me know, at [email protected]
i use them as well one of mine says "Iwata" but doesnt have the rest of the Engraving on the back part of the Airbrush
basicly doesn't have any bearing on the performance, but if you had to have it "Absolutley" perfect you could buy the rear neddle cover for about 8.00
i'll try and post some pics so everyone can see what i am talking about...

To Blade and All:

I think I am the guy who was too cheap to insure his 1/6 scale FG Monster Beetle Pro body when I shipped it off to Blade on 06-19-07 and yes that is the correct date! Well, that is according to Blade. However since I had it insured for $200 I guess that is not a true statement.

See Blade I really don’t care if you have a $100K Mercedes. Please note my screen name. I too have a $100K car so a few extra dollars for insurance really does not mean much to me.

See the excerpt from Blade’s post below.

From Blade dated 01-09-08 in response to MaxxThrasher

Oh wait and a Bug i owe to a guy because the Postal service "Crushed His Parcel" by accident and he did not want to insure??
hey not my fault someone doesnt want to pay 50cents for Insurance??????
but guess what ,were still taking care of it....."Just because" ever seen how much a 1/5 bug body is??
Oh wait ,your too bitter to see those??? well there about 100.00 well yep were taking care of it "Just Because"
from a "Legal Point of View" i dont have to do a dam thing??? but i felt bad? so were gonna take care of it?

I would not know if this is me or not or how Blade is taking care of me. You see he has never answered any of my e-mails since 06-28-07. Here is the e-mail I got.

-----Original Message-----

sure, no prob,
sorry about that : )
but they got the body and i think there done?
or almost done? it was straight forward...
so they did it up kinda quick....
and did up a Kevlar/carbon fiber look on the wing.
looks nice !!
w'll send off a pic here soon...
and i believe it will go out tomorrow??
but i will double check....
talk to you soon....

So if my Bug got crushed then the first I heard about it was on 01-09-08 in this forum. However, Blade has not responded to my e-mail inquiries. It just seems funny to me that in Jan of 2008 he is saying a 1/6 scale bug got crushed and I have an e-mil from them saying the body was complete and going to ship the next day in June 2007.

I have EVERY e-mail that I have sent from June until now but there are a lot of them so I won’t bother to post.

Here are some highlights:

Body shipped insured: 06-19-07
E-mail noting that the painting was complete: 06-28-07
Complaint filed with Better Business Bureau: 08-10-07
Web site updated that there are issues with their server AGAIN and they lost a lot of information. Please contact them they are returning calls and e-mail in 24 hours. Not painting bodies for 2 weeks: 09-04-07
My last e-mail because the original web site was gone and the 2 e-mail addresses ([email protected] and '[email protected] ) now come back as undeliverable: 10-09-07

There were MANY more e-mails between these times as well as phone calls.

I guess I am close to what MaxxThrasher described.

How to take care of a customer? Well let’s see how about replacing my body (I know where to get one because they are hard to find since FG is in a lawsuit with VW and not making bodies at this time) and $145 for the replacement body that I had to buy?

That should do it!
Sorry for the long post and hijacking this thread. I thought this might be able to get some sort of response.

Thanks for the time.

Not sure I would hold my breath waiting for those stickers.

Pantera, I'm sorry for your disappointing experience with Blade. It's situations like yours that caused me to post earlier in this thread. Hopefully the mods won't delete your post as well. You see, Blade has a history of this type of behavior. Blade also has a history of other less scrupulous behavior.

One of the things that he's well known for is back pouring bodies. This means he'll take a body from a customer (such as a ProLine body), fill it with clay or other solid and let it harden and dry. Next, he'll use a heat gun and some cheap lexan and create knock off bodies using that same mould. He'll then mass produce these greatly inferior bodies and sell them to unsuspecting customers. So, if you look at the bodies he's posted here, you'll see the a small retention bracket mark in in the body. These are the bodies he's back poured and illegally copied off of reputable companies.

You'll also notice he'll post a large amount of pictures. Some he'll claim are his, others he just posts to let people assume it's his. The guitars, for example are pics stolen from multiple sites. If you google custom painted guitars you'll see the various sites with identical pictures. He's been caught before by some very reputable painters. You see, he happened to post pictures of works that he claimed were his. The paintwork in the pictures was fantastic...because they were done by a very talented and easy going guy by the name of Mike Learn. It took threats of legal action before Blade decided to remove those pictures from his site.

If you were to meet Blade on the street, you'd think he was a very nice and likeable guy. But, that's the goal of all con men. So Pantera, I'm very sorry you were caught up in his scam. I only hope that once the smoke clears and you've been compensated that people will learn from your unfortunate experience. When you or anyone else is ready for some good paintwork, take your time and do some research. Ask other painters about the person you're thinking of commissioning. The RC painting world is a very small place and we usually know who's good and who's out for a scam.

Mods, please take into consideration the people you are protecting. It's understandable to maintain peace and order. It's another to protect your members from scam artists. If you're ever in doubt, ask people about the reasoning for their posts before arbitrarily removing posts and allowing scam artists to maintain ongoing scams on your site.
