Default Paint / Airbrush Gallery, Lets see what you've done

A fue years ago someone put up a "Show your work" post, but it has been so long, most of the pictures are gone. So, lets try this again. Lets see some pics of your works... weather it's your first body, or your first one this week... and please tell us rookies what type of paint and equipment you used. I know I get alot of ideas from seeing others work, so I'll start this off. I do vinyl graphics and signs and have finally let some people talk me into airbrushing. These are my first 2 airbrush bodies that i just finished today. Comments are welcome. I used Createx paint and a cheep $20 Central Pneumatic syphon feed airbrush. I can't wait to see what I can do with a decent brush

Does it have to be fancy airbrush or can simple stripes qualify. My camaro. I would like to hear about making your own decals, I'm having some trouble. I can print them on my color printer but they don't have the contrast against the bodies, no white background, and they don't last.

Authorjim1, I am talking about making decals out of Vinyl, basicly bumpersticker material. Its pretty simple, I come with a design, make it on the computer, cut it, the stick it on the inside of the body, paint over it, then remove it.

if you want to make high quality full colour stickers that look great juat use water slide paper and print them on an inkjet printer and spray over them on white or another light colour.
The paper is cheap and the results arestunning.
Anyway here is 2 of my creationsusingthe above technique.

Cheers dhal22, i can airbrush kind of well but for real intricate work where you want a really fine logo or image of something the results are quite simply stunning, photo realistic infact.

Happy painting all.

This "water slide" idea sound like the decals I used to put on plastic model cars and airplanes when I was younger. Is that what your talking about ?

yes seatecthat'sexactly what it is, thedifferenceis you can printthemat home as long as you have a good quality ink jet printer and a littlepatience the results can be stunning.
These are doneusingexactly this technique.
If anyone wants any printing i could do them for you for a small cost to coverpaperand inks also postage, ill also give you any advice you want if you would like to have a go yourself.

I never though of doing it that way. I definately need to check into this. The only thing I can think of off the top of my head, is how would you print a graphic with no background ???

now that's where your computer skill comes in, but your dead right.
There are programs out there that you can do it all with i use several to do different things they all do what they do well but not 1 does it all the way i like to do it so here's what i use.

Adobe photo shop is excellent for photo manipulation and cutting round things to a degree.
Coral Draw x3 this is the daddy off all manipulation programs for graphics and what i do most of my background removal in.
Adobe Illustrator for creating vector graphics (high res print quality images) these images can be blown up to an infinite size without breaking up at all with incredibly sharp edges for printing which is what you want for very high resolution in the decal.

Have a play around with some packages the more you play around the better you will become, im still learning all the time, and if you have a go and get stuck just give me a shout and if i can help you i will, if you get stuck cutting out a certain graphic i could have a look at it for you ok.

Im happy to help where ever i can.

Regards Marti.

The biggest secret is take your time , don't rush , I usually do a couple paint jobs at a time that way I'm always thinking what would be the best next move on my paint jobs . Next time you paint your cars tape off the grill and headlights and start to experiment , also the window trim . If you have questions PM me or call me , I bring all my computer work to a sign shop , so maybe youn can help me also . Norman , "the WINDY CITY AIRHEAD"

This paint job is a remake of the 2008 "Acid Spash" Mod Rodz - Camaro , Even though it appears to be the same color , the custom mix was tweaked for 2010 (for John and son Nick DiCarlo)

I've been thinking about doing a 5B body, Did you have anything specific in mind SCT10 ? I'd also like to find a 5T body, but they want a fortune for them. Does anyone know a good place to get bodies at a good price ?
