Custom lights on your bodys.Put pictures here!

Hy
I have an HPI Honda RSX body. Before I paint it I want to make custom headlights and taillights.I am not talking about puting just leds on it want to make a whole headlight and tailtights like real car have.I just hate stickers.Car is going to be painted in blue and vinyls will come in stickers so that I can change them when I want.
Now.Does enybody have some photos of bodys with custom lights? Please put them here and put some RSX photos so I can get some ideas.I will show mine when is finshed.

RE: Custom lights on your bodys.Put pictures here!

Last Monday I was sitting around feeling very bored. I had finished my forum rounds for the day so I was just sitting there staring at the TV. So I started to think, what can I do? Then I thought that I should do something with my RC. So I had to think what I could do. I thought of making a stronger mount for my ESC rather than a piece of a Pepsi can but that would involve trying to ind something that would work. So then I thought how about some lights.

So I went down to WoolWorths (Supermarket). I had to buy some batteries for my transmitter because I was out. While I was down there, there just so happened to be some bttery operated LED Chistmas lights. So the light came on in my head. I needed some battery powered LED's. So I picked up them and left with the batteris and the LED's.

I got home and started trying to mount them on the chassis but that didn't work to well so I decied to stick them to the inside of the body. I test fitted the lights to make sure everyting would work, which it did. So I then stuck the battery thing down with double sided tape and with the battery compartment facing so I could change batteries witho out having to take it off. I then stuck the lights to the back of the body with sticky tape. I had to scratch of some of the white paint that was on there from the factory so the light would shine thorugh.

The next problem was that it came with 14 LED's but I only needed two so I chopped off the ones I didn't need. And it works, HooRah! Now there's less of a chance of my car being run over by a full size car when I'm driving it on the road at 10pm. It looks cool too.

The inside of the body where I mounted it all.

And now it's a ghost. I tried to make an acion shot but it didn't work :D

BTW: This was directly copyed and pasted form another site so it might read a bit weird.

RE: Custom lights on your bodys.Put pictures here!

I have some problems[:o].I dont know when to paint and how to mask the lights position on the body and should I cut the body first or spray it the way it is.I think i will stick the sticker headlights and taillights on the inside of the body and then go painting.
PS.After I finsh all the lights I will do some changes with body.I will made some side skirts and cut the holes on the front bumper where they would be holes on the real car(grill, intercooler place,...).Now should I paint the body and then cut those holes or cut now and paint later.I dont know how to say this:I will smooth the edges of the cuted places with rough paper that is used to do this(I am not sure if the rough is the right word for that, maybe you call it sandpaper or somethink like that),and I will add some lexan to the intercooler place so it could look realistic. What glue should I use for that lexan parts?

Make sure to clean the inside surface with soap & water to get finger prints off. You can paint it first or after you cut the holes. Its usually better to paint before you cut it out.
As far as a glue i use Shoe Goo its for fixing shoes dont know if you have it there other than that super glue or ca glue should work. Show pictures when your done if you can, sounds nice...:D:D:D

I forgot to say that those lights on the taillights are not LEDs;).Leds are going to be just in the front(head & fog lights).

How about using the reflectors and bulbs out of a Mini Mag flashlite? You can buy them as seperate parts at Lowes building centers or order direct. I got some to use on my big airplanes for landing lights.
