Hey guys. I am about to paint my first body and i am wondering how many coats of can tamiya paint will it take to make the body opaque. Also, do i need time in between coats? if so how much time? Thanx in advance.

you spray it in light coats leting it dry between coats. when color looks even (3 or 4 coats) you will have to back it with white or silver, unless you are spraying black. it does not need to be backed. the color will allways look trannparent until you back it.

As far as time goes if it's warm I ususally wait 1 to 3 hours between coats of different colors and maybe 30 minutes between coats of the same color. I always throw my car into a rubbermaid tub big enough to hold it then I put a fan in the tub to blow directly on the upside down body that's resting on one end of the tub after I lay down a coat.

I am planning to paint my body pearl white. Would I need to back that or not?
