Default F3A World Cup 2011 - Great Britain

The Great Britain Radio Control Aerobatic Association (GBR/CAA) are proud to announce that a round of the FAI F3A World Cup will be coming to England over the weekend 27th, 28th and 29th May 2011. The venue is a private airfield close to Ashford in Kent.

The website is now up and running at www.gbrcaa.org/WorldCup which gives all the details. The entry form is on the website and we are now accepting entries.

We have had some interest from some of the top european pilots so hope to be able to pass on some exciting news over the coming weeks.

Regards,

Matt Hoyland

The preparations for this competition are going very well, the entry list is filling up and we have confirmed entries from Sebastiano Silvestri, Bernd Beschorner, Massimo Selva and a certain Canadian showing a very keen interest.

It plans to be a great weekend of F3A competition.

Matt

Being a Brit living in the US, I would love to attend this. However, being a "World" year, just before the nats, I can't.[]

Good luck to all!

It was open to anything - one pilot flew a Wot 4. Most used Sebart "50" size electric designs, but the winner did have an engine up front.

Have a look at the "for sale" section on gbrcaa.org forum for F3A planes, or come up to the aerobatic line at the Nats - there are always good planes for sale.

As for specific recommendations - well, the Sebart planes are good - you get what you pay for. That said, almost anything straight and light will do when you are starting in aerobatics. If you buy from somebody who is already flying in competitions you have a better chance of getting something decent.

Also you can check the GBRCAA site to see if there will be a Sebart Cup next year.

OK great thanks for the advice. I checked GBRCAA and they say that planes cannot be bigger than a 50size aircraft.

So do you think the extreme flight Vanquish MK2 would be any good. It has a 48" wing span and to me that seems about right?

You are right - my mistake sorry, it was limited to 50 size aircraft.

The 48" Vanquish will be absolutely fine.

Good luck with the practice flying and hopefully see you at a competition soon!
