How to Build a Pattern Plane book available thru NSRCA website
Guys, Don Atwood here. Recently there have been several requests from people trying to find or buy the book How to Build a Pattern Plane. As some of you probably know this book was authored by Bruce Thompson and myself several years ago as a collection of 'how-to' and examples about building a pattern plane. It went thru 4 editions but we stopped making it available when demand had tapered off or basically stopped. Bruce had the book printed and bound them himself so it was quite a chore to make it available.
We did not publish and/or update the book for monetary reasons and in the long run probably lost money on it. It was done to try and help people with the basic techniques and methods to build a light, straight pattern plane. Bruce did most of the writing, I contributed the initial ideas and helped edit the versions.
After much discussion (nagging on my part), Bruce agreed we could make it available electronically. I had no interest in managing that effort and approached some of the NSRCA officers with the idea to make it available in PDF format thru the NSRCA website for a download fee. The revenues for this will all go to the NSRCA. Hopefully, this will help people trying to learn to build as well as creating traffic for the website and attract new members.
The file is now online and can be downloaded for a $10 fee from the NSRCA website at the following link:

You do not need to be a member of the NSRCA to purchase the download however you do need to register on the site to access the purchase/download functions.

I skipped ahead a bit as I fly Advanced Pattern and my current Setup is a Prophecy with a YS 140L. When I bought the book I had no idea there were whole chapters dedicated to this Plane and Engine!
The info about the YS engine and tuning alone made the investment already worthwhile, and I haven't even had time to look at the book for the reason I bought it for yet!

I have the 2nd edition of the book (94 pages), when I read that the web version has more than 200 pages....... I bought it.
It worth the money for the additional info.

I made the sing up to the NSRCA and tried to download the file but the site tells me I'm disabled for doing so... can you tell me other mode I can reach thie book?

Guille, I am not sure what the reason for the rejection is but it sounds similar to the issue Timble had. I would suggest contacting the NSRCA Webmaster for assistance, that will be the fastest way to reach resolution. I am sure the Webmaster or PayPal will be able to resolve your issue.
