Naruke's new design - the Aiolos
I just received Naruke's latest design - the Aiolos - produced by Jet Legend, the same manufacturer of the Neptuno GP/ EP.
The Aiolos is all composite, it's an evolution of the Asyuler. Currently, Naruke is offering nine designs to the public:-
The Asyuler GP in wood version
The Asyuler GP by Oxai
The Asyuler EP by Oxai
The Asyuler Eternal in wood version
The Asyuler bipe
The Azure bipe
The Aiolos
The Aries in wood version
The Altair in wood version
This is my fourth plane from the Naruke family. I started with the Astral XX, then the Altair 200, I'm currently flying an Asyuler & now the Aiolos. Although, the design are all similar, but they all flies differently. Most of the current design favours forward canopy and huge fuse side volume to aid knife edge flights & rolling maneuvers. The measurements between the Asyuler and the Aiolos are very similar, with the Aiolos spotting a flat stab, instead of the Asyuler's anhedral. Although, they both have flair trailing edge on the rudder, the Aiolos one is definitely thicker. And because of the flat stab, the wing dihedral of the two are also different. Similar to the Neptuno, the plane comes with all kinds of accessories - tank, carbon spinner, push rods, tail wheel assembly, wheels, plane cover ...
The equipment I will be using:-
YS 175 cdi
Hatori header
F3A contest pipe
Futaba R6008HS rx
Ail - BLS 154 x 2
Ele - BLS 153 x 2
Rud - S9156
Thr - BLS 153
Since most people are interested in electric nowadays, I will not be doing a step by step build thread. However, I will post some updating pictures from time to time. If any of you have any questions, feel free to post or PM me.

Hello Adrian,
Jetlegend does not show it yet, if I may ask, what's the cost? and the construction? especially the type of glu they use.
Please post info and pictures, there's many of us(I'm sure) flying YS and love Naruke designs.
Best regards
Alejandro P.

Jet Legend only manufacture the plane. The cost is US$2,900 plus shipping.
I haven't started the installation yet. Therefore, I'll render my comment on a later date.

RE: Naruke's new design - the Aiolos
Ok, you want a build thread, here it is.
The wing & stabs' servo installation are done. Instead of using the horns/ rod ends/ clevises that came with the plane, I chose to use my own parts from Japan. I must stress that there is absolutely nothing wrong with the supplied hardware. As a matter of fact, they are equally as good. However, I'm just used to the one that I've been working with.
The wing installation is very straight forward, but the stabs are slightly tricky. Since I couldn't find any opening inside the stab for the servo lead to go through to the exit hole to connect to the extension lead, I have to cut one myself. Not a big deal, just require some thinking. In order for the elevator push rod to line up properly with the horn, I raised the servo slightly by installing two pieces of 1/16 light ply at both ends between the servo & the mounting bracket.
Next step, the fuse ...

Thanks Adrian i appreciate it that you changed your mind and decided to do it,we will be watching your build closely.
That`s a very nice looking plane and i think it must one heck of a flying plane as all Naruke designed planes.
Adrian were did you get the YS 175 CDI?,do you know when are they going to be available for purchase in the US?.
Regards.

RE: Naruke's new design - the Aiolos
One thing I forgot to mention, Naruke recommends offset on the ele servo arm on all of his design to ensure the same ele travel on both sides.
We usually install the servo arm perpendicular/ 90 degree to the servo. However, for Naruke's plane, the arm should be one click forward. Therefore, if arm # 1 is exactly 90 degree to the servo after placing it onto the servo gear, then, you should use the opposite arm # 3. After you have place it onto the gear, it will be offset automatically.
@ Chris - I'm going to try the glider version first. If it's not working out, I'll stick a motor in front. As for pit crew, I have to save some more money.
@ GiMsAcE - I got the 175 from a friend of mine in Japan. Central should have it in a month or two.

Are we going to the slope then? I'll get my gliders ready. Heck, maybe I'll pull the motor outta the Neptuno and I'll slope it! Would be awesome to try the pattern! hehe

No need to go to the slope, Chris. Just come over to BARCS some afternoon, should have enough wind to launch it. Otherwise, I can use the club's lawn mower to tow it ...

Hi Adrian,
The horn/rod ends sets supplied by Jetlegend are exactly same as the one you've bought from Japan.

RE: Naruke's new design - the Aiolos
The ele, rud cable & tail wheel assembly are all done.
Installing the two stab halves & threading/ connecting the extensions through the plastic tubing took about half an hour. As for the rudder cable, Jet Legend has already pre-installed two nylon rods along the inside of the fuse. In addition, they also supplied us with a piece of light ply/ cradle to support the ny rods. Therefore, all you need to do is to thread the rubber cable through & glue the cradle onto both sides of the fuse. However, I hope Jet Legend will install a longer ny rod. Especially, at the rear exit to prevent the rudder cable from cutting into the fuse during movement.
As for the tail wheel, the one from JL is very nice. However, since I always like a little bling on my planes, I've decided to use my usual gold one. Retrofitting the aftermarket one is fairly easy, all you need to do is some drilling and gluing a piece of short wooden dowel, and it's done.

Looking good as always Adrian you going fast too,it looks that JL did most of the building too and the small things that they have done for you will save the builder time in building and in return you get more flying time.
Truly an incredible looking plane can`t wait till you finish it and give your thoughts on the flying capabilities of the Aiolos witch must be incredible. And with the new YS 175 CDI for power>>>the perfect combo comes to mind.

Fuel tank, receiver, battery, switch & landing gear/ wheel pants are all installed, everything went in smoothly. However, I did notice the contact surface on both gear - where it meets the landing platform - were not completely flat. Even though, it was an easy fix with some sanding, but you do need to check these things to ensure a perfect fit.

A few more things get done tonight - all plumbing, fuel outlet/ dot, check valve, throttle servo/ cable, engine & cdi unit mounting. Last few steps will be installing of header, pipe, pipe mount, bellypan opening & cutting spinner prop opening to size.
