RE: Tomcats contest
Luke, I'd like to make it - not sure yet. What time should I get there to have a little time for practice on 8/20 and what time does the contest begin. Thanks, Bill

Hi Bill,
The contest starting time is solely depends on the weather, if it is overcast in the morning, we can start as early as 9:00 to 9:30am, otherwise, we might have to wait till 10:00 to 10:30am until the sun is out of the way, so any time before 9:00am is for sure open for practice.

RE: Tomcats contest
Kevin,
What's the earliest the field will be open on 8/20?
Also, what's the typical prevailing wind direction and speed these days out there?
Thanks,
Bill

Bill,
Field opens at 8:00am in the morning, but you can arrive earlier to get ready. The wind direction is typically from left to right, calm to maybe 10mph max in the morning, may go up to 15mph in the afternoon.

RE: Tomcats contest
Luke,
I plan to be there, Sportsman.
Also, do you think you will need me to judge (this will be my 2nd contest)? I'm studying the rule book and am happy to help in whatever way.
Thanks,
Bill

RE: Tomcats contest
The field has been overcast with low level clouds until around 10-11 oclock all this week. I hope that will change and we can get an earlier start but just wanted to let people know. Good thing is that the field has no sun issues past that time until sun down. I will be there Friday right after work.

RE: Tomcats contest
Is that a Norm Page Mach 1 on one of the pix? My dad used to have two of them in the 70s, kitted by Mid West, I believe.
It had a Webra Speed 61, on 30% Missile Mist turning a Rev-Up 11x7 at about 500,000 rpm ... What an engine. The radio was a Kraft Signature Series, those Pro-Line open gimbal stick still feel solid today.
