Default Sacramento Area Modelers Spring 1 Day Contest May 14

There will be a one day contest at the Sacramento Area Modelers field on May 14. This will be a very simple contest, no frills, just flying and good times. I will be the CD and Ron Davies will be the Asst CD.

As most of you know, the sun can become a big problem after about 2PM since the SAM field faces west. So, as usual we will be starting early Saturday morning. There will be no practice flying before the contest starts Saturday so we can start the rounds at 8AM, registration will be open by 6:30AM. The field will be open for practice on Friday.

Entry fee is $25 except for Sportsman which will $15. Any AMA legal plane is allowed in Sportsman. We will also be flying FAI Silver P17.

We will be following the same format we have used in the past. You need to be there on time, be ready to fly, be ready to judge when it is your turn. We have been successful getting 4 rounds in using this approach for the last couple years, hopefully we can keep the string going. Registration is available on the NSRCA website. http://nsrca.us/index.php/list-event...ay-spring-2016

Any questions or comments, let us know.

thanks

Just got word from Frank Capone that he and Dale O will be handling the Dave Wick Memorial BBQ at the SAM 1 Day. So, there will be FOOD and you know Frank/Dale can make a mean sandwich.

Do we need to wear a tux? If yes, I better stop by the Men's Warehouse tomorrow.

No tux necessary. A nice conservative tie and dark business suit should suffice. If it were a dinner BBQ, a tux would be nice. Something like Tom Hanks wore in 'Big' ...... ;-)

Weather Alert!!!! Forecast for Saturday is mid 70s, sun with some light clouds, wind from SW (down the runway) at about 5-8 mph. Sorry about the lousy NorCal weather. Will try to do better next year.

Well, the weather forecast was accurate, great day, mid 70s with light winds. 17 contestants, 4 rounds and we finished up around 2PM. Many thanks to everyone for being so prompt for judging and ready to fly on schedule. Sure made my job as CD easy. Thanks to all for attending, this was our kick off contest for NorCal, looks like we are off to a good start.

I would like to thank Woodie & co-CD Ron for putting on another great one day contest at the SAM club. Most importantly, for drafted me to judge only one round of Masters . To "Sparky" Capone, Bob O & Dale O for cooking lunch. I hope this great tradition will continue for many years to come.
